About this listen

Celebrate life's journeys with the beloved author whose stories of life and love have touched the world.

As in her worldwide best sellers The Shell Seekers and September, it is the richness of emotional seasons that has made Rosamunde Pilcher's novels beloved the world over. Now she invites listeners into long summer days on the coast of Cornwall - and into the stormy heart of newlywed Laura Haverstock.

Shy, recovering from illness, and away from her husband, Laura's is a fearful heart on the verge of intimate discoveries...about herself, her family, and the source of true love within her.

Voices in Summer speaks gently to the heart, in a voice that is Rosamunde Pilcher at her storytelling best.

Story compelling, weaving many characters and themes in an appealing way. However, the narration at times sounded a skosh too fast or dramatic, creating listener did-ease.
All came right in the end, however, leaving me with wonderfully calm feelings.

This is the 2nd Rosamunde Pilcher book I’ve read. The first was “The Shell Seekers.” I loved that book so much that I had to find other Pilcher novels and started my journey with this one.
It’s not quite as good as “The Shell Seekers,” but I REALLY enjoyed it. The set up is the same: the storyline is one main character (Laura), and the rest are characters whose lives intertwine with hers.
This story has a mystery thrown in that is a side plot IMHO.

I think Pilcher is a great writer of modern books. I usually prefer the classics, but these have been delightful. As an American, I’ve been quick to add visiting Cornwall on my bucket list.
One note: I wish the chapters had titles.

Compelling characters with a mystery thrown in

Rosamunde Pilcher is one of my favorite authors! Her descriptions put one right in the middle of the story. I love most of her characters and want to revisit them again and again. There are not many books I read/listen to this often. Jilly Bond is perfection in her narration of the characters. I often look for books just for her narration knowing they will be of the highest quality!

Loved the Book!

In times of great strife in the world, I always look for a Rosamunde Pilcher book to calm me. Although I prefer her long tomes, I decided to try a short one. This one served the usual purpose spectacularly, and read by Jilly Bond, my favorite narrator of RP’s books.

Rosamunde Pilcher, always calms me

It is a lovely story to be enjoyed on the beach or in a backyard garden on a hot summer day. Romance and mystery is one of the perfect pairings and the other is the author and narrator.

Perfect Pairings

I loved the shell seekers, and really enjoyed enjoyed seeing the character of Noel develop. I had almost avoided this audio after reading some of the scathing reviews of the narration, but I found them completely unjustified. Jilly Bond did a marvelous job!

I thought the performance was charming!
