About this listen

Two snowbound strangers discover their personal lives are more frozen than the weather in number-one New York Times best-selling author Rosamunde Pilcher’s audiobook Snow in April.

Caroline travels to Scotland, hoping to make contact with a brother she hasn’t seen for years, and return in time for her wedding to the man her strong-willed stepmother thought so suitable. Then a sudden snow strands her in an isolated house with a young man recovering from tragedy. Both are on the brink of terrible mistakes, but perhaps they can save each other.

Felt like it needed just a little more…

I have listened to previous books from this author and loved them. Although I really did enjoy this one as well it just needed more to it. The characters were very well developed. I just didn’t feel the romance between the two main characters. It was way too rushed. in fact, there wasn’t even any inkling in their thoughts that either one of them had feelings for the other. It was just like all of a sudden out of nowhere. The narrator was excellent and this could’ve been a really great story if it just had more buildup to the relationship between the two main characters.

Another beautifully written and narrated story by Rosamund

Snow in April is so well written that as the story unfolds it seems as if the characters are alive and their lives are happening right now in current time and that the listener is a part of this new adventure. Rosamund has a way of setting the scene so that the audio book becomes a vivid picture showing all of the details that one would find when watching a movie in the theater. This is achieved through the talent of both the writer and narrator in a synergy that brings the book to life and the characters to heart.
The book could have easily had 1 or 2 more chapters so that the listener could enjoy the story longer. Its a keeper for sure!

Charming

I am a big fan of the original recording of Ms. Pilcher's, Winter Solstice recorded by Lynn Redgrave. I have yet to find its equal in story quality and narrator. This story comes extremely close. The narration exceeds my expectations and Lucy does an amazing job of conveying both character and exposition with clear difference. The characters are ones you enjoy getting to know and hearing more about. The story is slightly predictable but that is one of the charms of the whole thing.

Wonderful

Richly written and beautifully read. The only thing I wished for was that it was longer and she continued the story!

A great favorite!

I have read this novel 2 or 3 times and have listened to it 2 or 3 times. It is charming and romantic. No, it is not a "big" novel like some of R.P.'s others, but it perfectly captures a small slice of an era, and the atmosphere is marvellously rendered. The characters are expertly drawn; I am sure each of them are exactly as she intended them to be. For me this is a "comfort read." It also works well as a "sleep story." Finally, Lucy Paterson is a perfect Pilcher narrator.

Poetic writing

Poetic writing worth the listen by itself. The storyline was a bit uneven and character development difficult to follow at first

Lovely romance

Beautiful story made even more so by Lucy Peterson's narration. This story is not to be missed by Rosamunde Pilcher fans. I wished it was longer because I hated for it to end.
