About this listen

The peach taffeta Bridesmaid dress- that should be Sophie’s problem. Not attempted murder.

Overjoyed at Maryanne’s engagement, amateur sleuth Sophie Katz can’t wait for the wedding vows and party toasts to begin. But then Dena—best friend, bridesmaid, and all-around vixen—is mysteriously shot just after the announcement. Leave this to the authorities? No way. Dena may never walk again, and Sophie vows to marry her fists with the shooter’s face.

Problem is, the number of suspects is off the charts—from jaded lovers to anti-free-lovers to just plain old haters. Dena’s made plenty of enemies thanks to her popular sex shop—and, yes, she’s no saint—but really, who deserves to be shot?

With an überlogical almost boyfriend condemning her vigilante quest, and a wedding planner going vicariously bridezilla over the dream princess wedding, Sophie’s barely thinking straight. But if she can keep her cool (and avoid all errant taffeta), she just might nab her man and save the (wedding) day.

Big if.

This was a laugh out loud listen

Loved the comments from the book written by Sophie, the main character, at the beginning of every chapter. Darn right belly laughs. Title fits well. I will never be able to look at a peach dress without cracking up. Best of the series, highly recommend.

The reader is awesome, but the protagonist is annoying!

By the time I read this book, I thought that I would be in love with Sophie Katz, but I hate her. She doesn’t deserve great friends or Anatoly. First, her relationship with Anatoly is baseless. Why are they a couple? She never listens to him, she constantly lies to him, and questions his judgment when he’s the professional detective. She wants to match wits all of the time, and she really wants to one - up him- I don’t think she loves anyone. She’s too quick to destroy their relationship because of her hunches or quick to accuse him after he repeatedly denies doing something. She doesn’t believe him or listen to him, and only uses him for sex and her self- gratification. Her friends are her friends, but is she really a friend to them. Her friends have proven to be more loyal and caring than she- she’s selfish and inconsiderate and does everything for her personal gain. She’s only concerned with how events affect her directly or indirectly. Her actions negatively impact her friends or those people around her, and she doesn’t care.

Read them in order

This is another great book in a fun series - don't try to read them out of order - it will just confuse you. But DO read them if you like funky, fun mysteries with great characters.

Ok

I really liked this book and would recommend it . I would have given it 5 stars if the author hadn't used God's name in vain. You don't have to use "GD" to have a great book. It had a great storyline and sexual storylines. Only if Sofia would listen to Anatoly she wouldn't get put into these situations. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. The narrator is great.

Enjoyable Read

I found this book to be a light, entertaining, humorous read. I am interested in the others in the series.

Not my fave but still great

I have become obsessed with Sofie and her friends. this book was not as exciting to me as the others in the series, but I still enjoyed it very much. I was super excited to see that the next book was only 1.99 with the purchase of the kindle version which was only 99 cents. I will definitely be looking at that first before using credits or spending larger amounts of money on books.

Ok

I like this series but I don’t like Sophie. Arrogant, stupid and disrespectful pretty much sums up this character.

The story continues and if you love Kyra

... then you will love this one as well. It is as if so many things get tied together. Will the story go on? or is this the last of the series? Kyra and Gabra as so good together as author and reader... they could write a book together, perhaps.

I laughed and cried.

This starts off with a bang that no one hears. In the first few pages, Mary Ann tells Sophie and Dena she is engaged, Dena gets shot in the back and can’t feel her legs, and Sophie and Anatoly (her boyfriend and a PI) both try to figure out who shot Dena and why.

There are a lot of references to kinky acts and steamy situations, but most of it is left to the reader's imagination making this book spicy and sensual rather than hot.

I laughed, I snorted, I cried, I cheered and stayed up late just to read "one more chapter", which always turned into three. I look forward to the next book about Sophie which I have already purchased! As Anatoly and her friends would say, “what will she get herself into next”?

Good Humor & Good Mystery.

I was in need of a good read, with a lot of GOOD humor, to pull me out of a negative pit I found myself in recently. After trying several books that promised humor, I found myself zoning out with each one.
What a joy to finally find this book. It has helped me to reconnect to my humerious side.
I loved the introductions to each chapter...what a hoot. Can't wait to use them.
The icing on the cake is the mingling of such different characters. ..... it's okay if you don't make sense, it's okay to live your life outside the 'normally accepted box'. It's confusing when you finally get up enough nerve to go to the police, & confess you assaulted someone & they won't believe you.
Plus the mystery of who done it?
