About this listen

Daphne White is staring down the barrel of forty - and is distraught at what she sees. Her ex-husband is getting remarried, her teenage daughter hardly needs her anymore, and the career she once dreamed about has somehow slipped from her grasp. She's almost lost sight of the spirited and optimistic young woman she used to be.

As she heads off to a Caribbean island to mark the new decade with her best friends from college, Daphne's in anything but the mood to celebrate. But when she meets Clay Hanson, a much younger man, she ignores her inner voice warning her that she's too old for a fling. In fact this tropical getaway might be the perfect opportunity to picture her future in a new sun-drenched light.

With the help of her friends, Daphne rediscovers her enthusiasm for life as well as her love for herself - and realizes that her best years are still ahead.

Incredible!!

I loved each of the three main characters. Daphne however, taught me that I'm not as insecure ad I thought I was. Yay me!! The older couple down the beach hit too close to home for me. I was sad and happy for them. Although I might sound crazy I was rooting for Clay and Daphne. I also wanted hear more about the hot sex lol! Otherwise a very enjoyable and enlightening read. Well done.

Straight forward story that has the feels

I enjoyed the listen as a typical story of personal rediscovery. Nothing was surprising but I didn't need or expect it to be. Wait for Rain is a lovely book: I'm not mad about the time spent.

Maria does it again.

Maria Murnane has a knack for writing the right books and characters... and I tend to find them when I need them most. Great story about not letting life events and happenings define you, I highly recommend 'Wait for the Rain' as well as the rest of Maria's books.

Enlightening Story

Really great story that it didn't end in getting the guy. Just finding one self.

Great Book After A Terribly Slow Start

As my title indicates I had a seriously difficult time getting past the slow beginning; slogging through about three and a half hours of angst by Daphne, a woman about to turn forty, about pretty much every aspect of her life. Soon after that bridge is crossed Daphne is flirting with a hot young twenty something, which led to some more angst for her due to the age difference, but also some hot sex.
With her on this vacation are her two best friends from her college days at Northwestern, Skylar and KC. Skylar is a big time businesswoman and KC is an athletic, highly energized, ridiculously upbeat, 5-2' goddess who could not only make me her bitch but make me happy about it. For me it's KC who carries the book through the middle portion.
It's great when Daphne finally realizes herself and sheds her extreme lack of confidence and optimism and begins to become again the woman she was before she buried herself in the wife and mother role. All in all this is a good story, and after getting the angst out of the way Daphne is great character and this is a very entertaining story.
