About this listen

Our relationship was such a cliche. Friends to lovers. High school sweethearts. Then...driven by insecurities, I broke Grady Ryan's heart.

I was weak, afraid to love, and even more afraid to be loved.

There are secrets I've kept buried, but I can't forget what we once shared. I've been given a second chance, and this time I'm prepared to fight for him.

After six long years of silence, Bri Jameson is back in my life. I never expected to see her again, especially not to share in the biggest opportunity of my career.

When she walks toward me across my football field, I can't stop my heart from racing. But time hasn't stopped me from knowing her - and I know she's hiding something. I can only hope whatever it is doesn't ruin me.

I've finally moved on, and I won't fall into her trap again. I wish I could tell my heart the same thing - it's just been waiting for her.

Contains mature themes.

An emotionally heartbreaking and beautifully captivating second chance romance. I adored going on this charming journey with Bri and Grady.

Grady and Bri

I have no complaint with the story. It is definitely on my relisten list. However, female reader reading style kind of took away for me to truly enjoy this story. Hence, four stars for performance. Male reader kind of made up for female reader. Four stars is for him.

Loved it

Second chances have to be one of my favorite tropes. Grady was devastated when Bri left him, just a shell of himself. Little did he know that Bri leaving him almost killed her. When Grady was upset and angry, he was also kind and understanding and while Bri was remorseful, she was also courageous . Great read/listen.

Really hooked on Author Jennifer Van Wyk’s small town romances. Grady and Bri are childhood best friends who turn to lovers but tragedy strikes in Bri’s home and suddenly her father’s mistakes become Grady’s worst nightmare.
Years later Bri is back home and forced to come face to face with the only man she’s ever loved. Even though it’s been six years, her feelings for Grady haven’t wavered. Although, now Grady has a lot of hurt in his eyes and Bri knows it’s all her fault.
Will Bri be able to show Grady that she is meant to be his forever? Or will both of them finally get the closure they never received.
Really enjoyed narrators Graham Halstead and Stephanie Rose.
Hope this author puts more of her books on audiobook because I really love her stories!!

I really enjoy hearing about the couples history and how much they still loved each other. His love for her was very sweet and my heart broke for them.

Great love story!

It took me a long time to get interested In these characters and even when the story picked up it was kind of dry and unrealistic in my opinion. I had. It favorite characters and just did not get into this story.

Not my cup of tea.

I’m not a fan of second chance romances, but it had good reviews so I thought I’d give it a try and sorry I did. There’s always so much hurt and drama caused by one of the characters making a selfish or immature decision. I get angry by all the time lost and pain suffered. Then they come back saying they made a mistake and want to be forgiven and want the person they betrayed and hurt to love them again. Sometimes I wish they’d just say, sorry it’s too late, you’ve done too much damage and I can’t forgive you. I couldn’t root for the MFC.
If you like second chance romances, you might love this, but it’s not for me.

Not for me

I have the feeling that I should have read something else before reading this book, because some details are really unclear, like they were dealt with in another book.
For example, in the beginning she is upset about something and it’s kind of blurry what exactly happened. My understanding is that she finds out about her father’s affair at some point, while he is dying or after he died. Not sure why or how. At one point later on, we find out that Andy helped her after she broke up with Grady, which means that her father was gone for quite some time when she found out about the affair. It is only an example, there are some other blurry events throughout so, while the idea for the story is good, the result is missing something.

Narration is half OK. I liked the male narrator but found the female narrator’s style slightly annoying.

Story is OK but blurry on relevant details

I’m four chapters in and I can’t make this book make sense for anything. The thought process is all over the place with no clear indication of where started or where we are.

It doesn’t make sense
