About this listen

Walking in Unity is about bringing Christ-centered answers to issues of race and racism. Drawing a clear distinction between the secular culture's instructions for agreement and Scripture's call for unity, authors Moniqe Duson and Krista Bontrager help you explore what the Bible really says about ethnic harmony and how Christians ultimately find their common identity in Christ.

In this encouraging and accessible guide, you will explore the tough issues that have made their way from the larger culture into the pews of local unsuspecting churches—reparations, interethnic families, the multicultural church, and systemic racism—all while keeping Christ at the center. You will also be equipped with insights and guidelines for engaging in constructive dialogue with others.

As you engage this Christ-centered model for ethnic unity, you will discover more freedom and joy in your cross-cultural friendships than you ever thought possible.

I love that Krista and Monique got to share their own unique perspectives and personalities in this book. I love their raw honesty! If you want to understand true Biblical unity, read this book! The ladies won’t tell you racism doesn’t exist or that things are already great just because we are children of God. But they will help you get a better grasp on what God wants true unity to look like.

This is a much needed resource on what should be the church’s response to racial reconciliation, reflected in God‘s truth about identity and the role that race plays in it. I will be buying a copy of this book for our pastor, and look forward to reading this in our small group.

The body of Christ needs this book which presents biblical truth & historical fact with the compassionate grace of Jesus as the lens through which we should filter all conversations, thoughts, and actions about racism and teaches what true unity is based on scripture.

I like how this proposal was presented. I dislike most of the implications, thankfully it’s not up to me how all of this works out but only how I respond. Thank you both for submitting yourselves to this process.

hearing the authors read their own chapters was invaluable. this book far exceeded my expectations and will challenge each reader, but in different ways. As the Lord wills it.

I love that this was written out of the building of a relationship, and not the foundation of the Bible was used to come to their conclusions.

That this is the best way to look at racial reconciliation. Through the lens of the cross.

Well thought out and very helpful. I listened as an audio book, but want to buy a hard copy to annotate and share with others.

This book changed my views on race relations in the church. Monique and Krista clearly lay out a Biblical understanding of race, ethnicity, our identity, and relationships within the church. They ground this Biblical foundation in the true story of their own friendship, which helps to connect to the concepts they lay out. While being completely grounded in Scripture, this book is written for everyone, not just those with higher degrees in theology. I truly appreciated hearing this book read by the authors as they told their story how God (as only He can), brought them together in a friendship of true unity grounded in Christ. I have listened to this book several times, and will appreciate having it to listen to again!

Quick, easy read (listen) with sound practical advice from a solidly biblical perspective on how to view and approach our culture’s obsession with race.

I discovered CFBU during the summer of 2020. Krista & Monique provided such clear answers to many questions I had about what the world was witnessing at that time. I’ve been an occasional listener to their podcast ever since (as time permits). So I knew the content of the book would be solid and well researched. It is.

But I also really enjoyed the book to learn the back story of how these two ladies met… and how their ministry began. It’s an endearing story with a supernatural beginning.
Overall the book is very well done and i highly recommend.
