Publisher's summary

Through his nightly CNN show Lou Dobbs Tonight, his syndicated radio program, and his monthly magazine column, Lou Dobbs has become one of America's most visible, popular, and respected voices on business and financial matters. Now, with War on the Middle Class, Dobbs takes an impassioned and rousing stance on the all-out class war that is turning the American dream into a nightmare.

The middle class has never been so vulnerable. Its every feature is under assault by politicians and the lobbyists who court them, corporations that send jobs overseas, and a media that relies on sensationalism instead of facts when reporting the news.

In a sweeping analysis, Dobbs looks at every aspect of the decline of the middle class, from a lack of political representation to America's corrupt health-care system. He demonstrates that the gap between America's newest haves and have-nots is not merely financial, but instead involves the erosion of education, employment, government, and community. Dobbs proposes a series of measures to resolve each issue and incite people, whose future is being mortgaged to benefit a powerful few, to preserve their rights and dreams.

War on the Middle Class is provocative, incendiary, and bound to be widely discussed; it's the perfect book to establish the terms of debate for future elections.

Critic reviews

"His refreshing prose, like his on-air persona, combines seemingly unmixable ingredients [and] thanks to Dobbs' passion and charisma [War on the Middle Class] succeeds in sounding an alarm that cannot be ignored." (The New York Times Book Review)

"[Dobbs] manages to shine a powerful spotlight on many outrages." (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)

"[Dobbs is] a refreshingly bold thinker who refuses to be intellectually pigeon- holed." (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

Lou Has Got It Mostly Right !

This review is admittedly partisan because I am a big Lou Dobbs fan, one of the few media pundits that dare to speak truth to a corrupt and broken system.

This is one of the most inspiring works that I have read in years. Lou has his own ideas about what it will take to restore the meaning of "We The People" to our government. However. he does not hesitate to promote the work of others who have ignored the attacks of special interest groups and implemented programs that have addressed some of our most horrific problems.

Lou concentrates solely on national issues and there is no discussion of any of our current foreign military adventures. He does not blame either of the two majority political parties for the current problems but he does point out that the use of partisan wedge issues by both parties has blocked any real debate on key problems. Primarily, the corruption of special interest money on all branches of our government is the over whelming factor.

An inspiring 4 1/2 hour program that only Lou could do !

No purpose book...

Why this book was written - is the biggest secret of the world.
It's full of complaining " our country is not ran properly", and stating obvious facts, like "powerty grows while rich become richer".
No new ideas were presented, just painful repeating of obvious matters that have been exposed long time ago.
Meaningless...

OMG end of the world

The author just goes on and on and on about things that are completely out of the middle-classes control. People better their lives every day, just know that and dont buy this book.
