Publisher's summary

We repelled the Swarm - for now. But they won't stop: They're inhuman. They have no inhibitions. No conscience. And no mercy. But from the crucible of battle has risen an unlikely hero. Captain Timothy Granger, at the helm of another time-tested battleship, will take the fight to the enemy. He'll discover their secrets. Find their homeworld. Destroy it before they destroy ours. He will save us all. He must. Or we'll die.

The story actually deserves a higher rating!

There is nothing wrong with the writing, only standard sci-fi science consistency! Excellent book, but some of the established rules of spaceflight are not maintained in all circumstances. In Webb's defense, starfighter dogfights are really hard to make exciting af the pace they would actually happen.
None of the rule breaking hindered my experience, but if it will bother you, you've been warned!
I will be listening to more of this series!

This is why I stop listing to books

Why can't people that are killed in the story stay dead. I hate when writers try to put in the Hollywood or Disney endings in the story. This is why I stop getting there books. Why do good writers try for happily ever after; war is a tragedy , it should reflect that in the story.

Brilliant Sequel to Constitution

Warrior starts off not long after the end of the Constitution, with Granger having returned from the dead, and, with the ‘Constitution’ basically being a write-off, he is given command of another Legacy Class ship – the ISS Warrior.
The story continues with the Human Race having to fight against the Swarm, an almost invincible enemy that continues to invade Humanity’s planets and colonies.
This is epic Sci-Fi at its best – an awesome alien race, the grizzled Captain, the loyal crew, and the tough old warship.
It’s everything you want in a good book. What makes it truly brilliant though is the way Webb tells it, and then the way that Tremblay narrates these words, captivating us with brilliant Sci-fi that you will not be able to stop listening to.
This is not just about the starship and her Captain, there are Political intrigues as well, with the President, the Vice President and members of the Military all vying for power during this time of crisis. This not only destabilises situations, but provides for some fascinating back story as well, making this book a bit more interesting than the usual Human vs Alien conflict.
Webb has also splintered the Human factions in a fairly interesting way, and without giving too much away, the Universe he has created for the story shows an interesting possible future for humanity, one that is both creative and intriguing.
For those Sci-Fi fans that love the tech side of things, or expect some detail, Webb does not disappoint. Given his background, he has the ability to easily write and convey the details about complex technology used in his work, but in a way that is easy to understand, and not get bogged down for pages (or chapters in some cases!) at a time. Instead, we get some awesome concepts and tech that is masterful, and the reason I love reading Webb’s books.
The most compelling part of this story though has to be the characters – from Captain Granger, to Shelby, the President the slimy VP, even the Alien species. There is a rich selection of characters that he has created, each giving an interesting perspective of the story. The relationship between Granger and Shelby is particularly interesting, especially after the start of the first book in which he loathed her so much. Now he can’t survive without her and considers her one of his closest allies and friends. The change and growth between the two as the war has gone on is very cleverly written, showing a real understanding of human interactions in stressful situations, especially combat situations.
Tremblay has again done true justice to Webb's characters giving them life, each with wonderful voice and emotion, allowing the listener to fully engage with the story.
It's this type of character driven story that adds a depth to the very common genre of space opera that makes Nick Webb’s work stand out, and makes it so superb.
Add to that an exceptional and engaging story line that you just can’t put down as Granger tries to find a solution to defeat an almost unbeatable enemy and save humanity, and this is a truly sensational and outstanding piece of work.
As usual, I don’t want to give anything away, but this is a brilliant sequel to Constitution, and if you liked that, you will love this.
As I have said, along with the exceptional writing, Tremblay's Narration is just beyond exceptional and he is easily one of my favourite Narrator's, as he brings the stories to life so well. You find yourself trying to find every little minute you can to listen to just a little bit more of the story, walking around the house with headphones on just so you can listen to another chapter, or 2, or 3....

Captain Granger has been getting targeted from all sides, including the aliens. But each problem that arises, Capt. Granger or a a crew members make a twist, with a new puzzle piece. The president has a singular purpose, control !! She will kill anyone in her way or mind-control them. The Russians are against planet Earth and sided with the aliens. Technology is power!!! Or is it ?? Will we as nations of Earth Space World Federations, keep the wars going or make Peace? This book has interesting twists on Life. Can't wait to hear what the last book of this trilogy, will bring !!!!!!!
A brilliant trilogy by Nick Webb, indeed. Very well written. And Greg Tremblay, is very versatile with the voices. You bring each character to life !!!

Warrior

Good book. Had some fun with this one, and some exhaustion from some characters asinine actions, but a good story.

Good performance

Worth the buy.
