About this listen

Demon spawn, they call him. Evil seed of the UnNamed One. Lirak wonders if they might be right. Sent on a holy quest to test his prophetic dreams, he returns to find his people scattered or slaughtered. Ruthless invaders and their dread warlocks spread death and destruction across the land. Before he can lead the remnants of his people in vengeance, Lirak must win their trust. But blades and arrows alone will not defeat this enemy. His only hope is to master warlock sorcery, turning their own fell powers against them. Can he learn their arcane secrets in time, or will the deadly power consume him? Only the seven gods could know, but they war amongst themselves, and Lirak is a pawn in their divine conflict. Even if he defeats the invaders, he fears his trials are just beginning.

The plot overall is fine, but there is too much repetition. I don't need to know everytime a character stops for lunch or how many times they eat meat and cheese! In one chapter I get one moment of battle, I think the story os finally getting into it's stride. But no, it ends in a minute and it's back to lunch. And then the party travels for a while and have more lunch!

It ramps up a bit rapidly at the end, but apart from that the book is excellent.

The only negative thing I have to say about this fantastic book is the narrators character voices are not pleasant to listen too. His voice as a overall narrator is fantastic but the characters all sound "whiney". But as I said his story telling voice is very pleasant

Any additional comments?

The story feels unique, and for this alone is worth the credit. It has this nice mix of English knights/armor and American Indians in colonial times. Note, that is about as close of a feel for the storyline that I can come up with, it does not seem to be directly related to either. I did stop the story several times, and I don't have a great feel as to why. ...and I would have subtracted more stars for this, but considering previous book rankings, I couldn't give it any less than four stars....although I really wanted to subtract a half star here or there. It could have been the performance, or the story, or a combination of the two. The magic in the story is not in your face, it kinda like icing on the cake. Generally, worth a credit, but don't expect to binge listen.

Worth a credit, a little odd, a little unique

Fast paced, we'll preformed and writen. I recommend it to Fantasy lovers, magic lovers as well. You need a tough stomach for some of it.

Very Exciting
