Publisher's summary

Welcome to Emerson Grove. With our fantastic university, suburban lifestyle, and the city nearby, you’re never going to want to leave.

I almost believe their slogan, until my ride drives off, leaving me on the doorstep of a pretty house to reveal a blast from the past.

Leaving one lion’s den, I’ve fallen straight into another. I didn’t agree to this part. I didn't agree to…them. I cherished my past, and the memories I shared with these guys, until I was whipped away in the dead of night, and now they hate me for it.

Jagger. Jameson. Leo. Ezra.

They might be trouble, but I’m still the reckless, outspoken girl I’ve always been. I was made for them, but they’ve forgotten that fact. It’s like our history never happened. Things have changed, and they’re keeping secrets. I’ll find out what’s going on, whether they like it or not.

I’m Luella Carter, and Emerson U is mine.

Watch Me Fall is book one in the Emerson U Series, which is an MM RH novel which includes steamy scenes and violence. It is recommended for listeners 17+.

Not perfect but very good

I really like the character, Lou Lou. She is vulnerable and strong, caring and stubborn. I’m glad she gives the guys a hard time right back a lot of the time.

The narrators aren’t great at being believable with gendered voices. The guys aren’t deep enough with the female narrator and the girl is always whiny with the male narrator. I can get over it but it is annoying.

Rough start for Lou Lou. Must Read!!

Lou Lou is finding her footing and adjusting to be back with her boys. This was a great start and very well written to set up for the next 2 books. I listened to this on audiobook, highly recommend. Marnye Young is a new to me narrator she was great as Lou Lou, she brought emotion and angst to this book. Joe Arden was brought all 4 of the boys alive. Fantastic pairing

A great series

This is my second series of KC Kean’s. I’m really enjoying the characters and the mystery of everything that is going on.

so far so good

The Female narrator is a little off putting, not to sound mean but she sounds really old and at times her voice sounds a little shaky. not to mention the sex scenes sound like a old grandma having sex and I just cant unhear it. Audible needs to STOP using her voice for narration. but overall good start. Love that the female character takes no shit and not submissive.

First book average

I loved Toxic Creek. I was super excited to see the spin off was complete on audible the day I left for vacation. Maybe the build up is what disappointed me with book 1. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't super exciting. I think with the way it ended it will get better

Big fan

I’m a big fan of this genre and all the tropes so this hit that nice sweet spot with plenty of action and drama while leaving you wanting more.

Marney and Joe did a great job and I love how easy it is to tell the guys apart with the slightly different voice inflections from both of them.

This is my first book/series by KC, but it won’t be my last. I’ll be immediately jumping into the next book.

Where’s the why?

Why is this group so ride or die? Why should I be connected to and root for these characters? Why do the guys act like they hate her so much? All questions I was seeking answers to but never really found. I struggled with this book. For one, I felt like maybe I had picked up a later book in the series because the opening was so abrupt and there was little to no explanation of backstory or motivations. I get that it’s a series and revelations will happen throughout but there wasn’t enough in book 1 to motivate me to continue. I was just confused.

All about LouLou

The main character LoLou only thinks about herself and didn’t really care about the guys she “loves”. I just gave up on this book and won’t be getting book number 2 for sure. This book was not worth the credit.

Hmm…

I hate giving an audiobook a low rating. It’s rare that this happens, but I literally could not figure out why I should care about the characters in this story. Something significant is missing. As chapter 1 ended, and again as subsequent chapters passed, I kept thinking, “Is there a prequel? Is there an earlier series that has these characters it where the author assumes I’ll already know who these folks are?”

There was no compelling backstory provided to give value to the relationship between the lead characters. There was no effort to paint a picture of who the characters are as individuals aside from snarky kids who bonded over mostly undefined hardships in childhood.

I bought the first and second books at the same time, so I’m going to see if maybe the second one redeems things. But if it’s like the first, I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it.

Many f*cks given.

I love RHs, bully, twisty stories. This one is pretty trope-y, and that works for me.

The problem is that the LFC uses the f word in literally every paragraph, even in internal dialogues.

I’m good with cursing. I especially appreciate it when it’s warranted. But I think author KC Kean got confused and figured the best way to prove the LFC was a “bad b*tch” (which was mentioned 100 times) was to curse. Instantly and for no reason.

It’s like the author was too lazy to form well-thought-out descriptors or emotions and opted for “F*CK!” instead.

Seriously. It’s dropped in the most random places and became really distracting.

OR…narrator Marnye Young doesn’t deliver it well. She does seem uncomfortable and confused about having to say it over and over.

It’s mostly for this reason that I won’t bother with book 2. I don’t care about the LFC to go on the journey with her. But she’s a “bad b*tch”, so she can just do it alone.
