Great listen!

Really enjoyed listening to this and wasn’t expecting how it ended. Fantastic performance by the narrator, she put so much emotion into her reading and had unique voices for each character. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

A solid, if flawed, thriller

Rosie Akerman's performance is very winsome. I'd say she shines the most when she is doing her MANY character voices and accents without as much theatricality; e.g. trying to deepen her voice sounds a little comical at times, and some of the minor characters are relegated to having cartoonish voices. But even that might be too harsh a criticism. She really is a fine narrator -- extremely talented and engaging, with a very appealing clear crisp voice. In moments of heightened stakes, she does interesting things with pacing and breath that I haven't heard before.

*Some vague SPOILERS following*

As for the story: It was a solid premise and tightly written. I saw the twist coming but enjoyed the payoff nonetheless. I enjoyed the elements of cyberstalking, manipulating those around our protagonist with false messages, and little clues sprinkled throughout as to the true nature of our narrators. I even enjoyed jumping around in time (which was never confusing), and shifting between perspectives. The climax was exciting and well-executed.

I couldn't help but think throughout, given that the stakes are quite high, that it could have been far more suspenseful than a handful of text messages bothering our protagonist. I kept waiting for a more dramatic build. In my opinion, the plot device of the song "Every Breath You Take" felt a little cheap and on-the-nose as well. There was also one rather glaring (for me) plot hole that I don't recall being explained -- why didn't the police find the tape immediately after the murder? It only took our characters a few minutes.

Outstanding Shocker

I almost gave up in the early chapters. I'm so glad that I didn't. The ending totally blew my mind. I thought that I had it all figured out....wrong!! Definitely worth the time and the money invested. You won't be disappointed. At all. 😀😀😀

Great listen Great ending

A book that has it all. Personable characters (who can be frustrating), a great plot, and a fantastic ending. You won’t be sorry with this one.

Disappointing

Both the author and narrator let me down on this one. The storyline is formulaic, and tedious. The narrator really overdoes the florid drama of every line - so disappointing, since until now I'd considered her perfect for the genre. Not so much, with this one.

Stayed with it, because I was out of credits. But definitely not up to the standards I've come to appreciate from both author and narrator. Most unfortunate.

Not that suspenseful

The story was just average. It was a good listen, but not a great one. I felt the story was longer than it needed to be and the mixture of flashback to present time was difficult to follow at time. The narration was just average compared to the many audiobooks I have listened to. I was given this book in exchange for and honest non-biased review.

Riveting!

Tense from the 1st paragraph!

Unfortunately too much bad language for me. I had to bail out early. I would have loved to listen to the entire audiobook.

Rosie Akerman, narrator did a good job.

Twists and turns held my attention throughout! Amazing how greed drives people!

A must listen to audiobook!

Christopher Lane did an excellent job of narrating

Found the flashbacks too confusing...

Watching You by Lynda Renham was an okay listen. I had really been hoping for more from this title when I agreed to review it. The summary sounded like a book that I would normally inhale. Unfortunately, I found myself taking long breaks between listening to sections of this book. I wanted to love it. Unfortunately I found the scenes between the present and the past a bit confusing. I had a bit of trouble jumping back and forth and knowing if what was happening was in the past or present. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that had issues with this. Overall, I just wasn't really able to get into this audiobook.

Rosie Akerman, in my opinion, did a great job narrating Watching You. I found her voice to be easy to listen to and she definitely added appropriate depth to her reading when necessary. I'd happily listen to more of her performances in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Watching You Was An Intriguing Listen

Audiobook: Watching You
This was an intriguing listen. There were a few things I didn't understand. In the story I wasn't sure how much time passed. Simon was a recurring character but I had him confused with some of the other men names such as David. While listening, I found myself drifting at times then something would grab me back in. If I'm being honest then I would've liked more character development and more editing as this was over 9 hours. The story was edgy but for me, not edge of my seat. It was still very good and I would recommend it.

Narration: Rosie Akeman made this audiobook so much better. She has excellent voice inflections and a terrific voice. I really enjoyed listening to her. At times it was her that kept me listening.
