About this listen

Family always comes first.

When successful magical researcher Ellie Alwood finds her sister, Jana, murdered in their living room, her entire world is turned upside down. Jana’s killer is a siekewa, a soul broker, who has claimed her soul for not holding up her end of a bargain. To save her sister, Ellie makes a deal with the creature: Jana’s eternal soul for an enchanted stone.

The stone belongs to the soul collectors, the spirit guides that lead the deceased to the afterlife. If they won’t give her the stone, Ellie will have to steal it.

As she gets closer to her goal, she learns that giving the stone to a siekewa will put her entire world in danger. She will have to choose whether or not she is willing to put thousands of lives at risk or give up on her little sister.

An Awesome Beginning

This is a new series and might I say a great start! From the very beginning I couldn't stop listening. The story is nicely unique and the characters well developed. The main character is intelligent, strong, and relateable. You'll find you won't be able to keep from rooting for her. The story has suspense, magic, magical beings, adventure, mystery and action. I really enjoyed listening to this book and look forward to the next installment. The narration by Meghan Kelly was awesome as usual. Each character was given their own voice and emotions and there was no problem keeping up with who was speaking. I love Ms Kelly's narrations and feel this is her best yet! I certainly will be recommending this book to my friends!

Unique

Soo this is a 98% fantasy with just droppings of romance hinted here and there.

The story is decent. The narration was great.

The sad part is the silly book ends on a cliffhanger but not a bad one just kind of a funny one.

Imaginitive

I really enjoy a story with characters that I have never heard of. The sacrifices of the young lady to save her loved ones and her steength and courage were something all women strive for. The narrator was great.

Great Read

Wayward Soul: The Wayward Gods Book One was a great read by L.D. Greenwood. Ellie is a magical researcher who finds her sister murdered. The person who murdered Jana is a soul broker who claimed her soul. Ellie decides to trade an eternal stone for her sister's soul. Ellie will have to steal the stone if the soul collector's won't give it to her. Unfortunately for her she finds out that if she gives him the stone than it outs the whole world in danger. She must decide if it's still worth the risk. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Wow!

I really liked this entire story and the writing was great. It was very unique and original. Not much romance, but there is potential for some in future books.

Fabulous narration! I thought the narrator was a perfect fit for this story and really gave us a great performance!

A great story and narrator

This audio was fantastic, it hooked you in and you were listening till the end. The author had a great imagination that will appeal to any age and gender . Love how it has PNR with a twist of fantasy .
Heroine is Ellie .
Ellie made a deal with the devil , what is the deal, to be in between the living and the dead . Ellie needs to save the soul of her sister . While there Ellie gets an idea about the other souls . Ellie has a choice to make . This was a fun listen. That has you glued to your ear phones .

The narrator Meghan Kelly nailed it. She brought the story to life. She made it seem like you were right beside Ellie

Wayward Soul

I was immediately drawn into this story. The concept of soul collectors and soul brokers was very intriguing, and when Ellie made a deal to save her sister’s soul, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put this book down. I do hope to see more books in this series.

Meghan Kelly always does a phenomenal job with narrating multiple characters. It’s not just the voices, but the emotions and feelings that are brought out. Amazing!

Entertaining!

Paranormal is not my usual listen, but sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone and change things up. This debut novel by LD Greenwood kept me listening and completely enthralled in Ellie's life! Ellie comes home to find her sister, Jana, dead at the hands of a soul broker. When she exchanges her sister's life for the retrieval of a stone, Ellie enters into a world of magic and deceit. So much happens in this magical realm, from meeting the Goddess Fate and hearing her story as well as the underlying feelings Ellie develops for Chester, her guide. Ellie's journey puts family first, but she does find that there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. Will she be able to save Jana's soul? Can she get the stone from a soul collector? What will the cost be in the end? It's got a lot going on, a little suspense, a little love and a whole lot of interesting characters sure to keep you entertained. It leaves us wide open for book 2 and I am looking forward to it!

Meghan Kelly is a go to narrator for me. I normally listen to her in a romantic setting, but this book shows her versatility. She brings the story a vibrancy with the many characters she has to perform. Her sensitivity shows with Chester and his child, and then turns into the evilness when dealing with the soul broker. Her intuitiveness gives each character the perfect personality and is like listening to a movie!
