About this listen

Prince Roger is coming home, but home isn't what it was when he left. Traitors have murdered his brother and sister, his nieces and nephews. His mother, the empress, is still alive but in the hands of Roger's own biological father, who controls her through drugs and physical and psychological torture. A new heir to the throne has been conceived, and once the child is born his mother will no longer be necessary to the traitors' plans. Prince Roger must somehow retake the empire from the men who control it before his new brother is born and his mother dies. It's an impossible task, but Prince Roger knows all about impossible tasks.©2005 David Weber and John Ringo (P)2005 Blackstone Audiobooks Adventure Fantasy Fiction Military Space Opera Space Science Fiction Royalty

It Was good, fast finish

I think some where in the last bits of writing this book these guys decided not to do any more of the series. so they finished the book a little fast. i mean prince roger really turned into a "King Arthure" for lack of a better example but when he gets home no one really cares, and its like save the day and here you go end book. the narrator does a great job across the series. its a good book just ended abruptly

Wonderful Series!

What made the experience of listening to We Few the most enjoyable?

this was a well-written, very entertaining book! I even loved the battle scenes and enjoyed seeing how the Prince's soldiers changed their tactics to meet the varying tactics of the enemies they fought. Each character was nuanced, and by the end of the series I was cheering for them all. Fun sci-fi, fun military science, fun hero!!

Have you listened to any of Stefan Rudnicki and Gabrielle de Cuir ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to the three books that precede this in the series. Each is just as good as the next!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Spoiler alert: when Prince Roger and his martial staff enter into the queen's presence at the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

If you like sci-fi, get it. It's as fun as Buchold's Miles Vorkosigan novels, but much more intense.

Every character he introduces is interesting, most when they die matter to you. Well constructed universe both technical and socialy.

Needs another book - better ending!

Need a better ending. This epic story needs another book to do justice to the world the authors have created for us. Give us more.

So good I want more. But not a sequel...

Roger's story is over.

That's not to say there aren't thousands of stories that could still be told. Perhaps an anthology of short stories dealing with some of the charachters introduced in this novel by authors who write in the same mindset.

Say a gritty detective story written by Jim Butcher. A rescue operation that goes horribly sideways by Larry Coreia (sp?). The list goes on with dozens of other authors that I can think of.

Now that I would love.

Cherry on top!

Wow! What a great find! Don’t you just love it when you try the first book in a series and you turn out to LOVE IT? Well that is exactly what happened here with me. I could not wait to download the next book, and they are all nice a long (so you get a lot of ‘bang for your buck.’) All of these prince Roger books are the kind of ‘long’ that goes by fast. There is plenty of satisfying action and the character development if great too. You really get to love each character and see what happens to them. This book is a little different because it is set in the context of advanced space. But as always, the writting and action won't dissappoint! I highly recommend each and every book in this series…If you like the first book your will like them all.

Totally awesome book series but......

This is totally awesome book series! But, you have to listen to the first 3 books before you listen to this one. This is the fourth book in one of the best series you're ever gonna listen to! Just listen to the first three books first because this book is what winds it all up in the end.
