Publisher's summary

My husband is the deadliest alien warlord of all, and I hate that about him... until he's exactly what I need.

I've dedicated my life to doing as much good as possible. I won't let my marriage to the big and buff alien assassin, Feruz, wreck my plans. I don't care if I accidentally swore to be his mate at what I thought was a welcoming ceremony. My morals are the polar opposite of his, and I want nothing to do with him... even if my new life on his planet is a bit lonely.

When Feruz offers me a way out of our marriage, I take it in a heartbeat. If I go on one date with him to a relaxing resort and still want out of our marriage, he'll leave me alone.

Except, our date quickly goes bad: my husband is the target of ruthless mercenaries who also want to kidnap me. I am determined to abide by my non-violent oaths… an oath Feruz agrees to honor as well, even if it goes against all his training and instincts.

I never imagined Feruz would be the sort of male I'd want by my side, but when push comes to shove, he might be a better partner than I could ever imagine.

It was ok

Not sure how to rate the female narrator always irritates me, but I did like the male. So a bad ass make becomes a homemaker mmm not sure if that was ok to me.

Went to the assassin

The story was not in line with what we had been led to believe the assassin was really like. That kind of bothered me a lot through the whole story he went from being extremely difficult and surly and rude to being a marshmallow. It just didn’t work for me. As a stand without the background of the surly rudeness in the previous books, it was OK.

Another gem!!! .

I love this series, how wvery booke seems to have a different trope, this one was more alow burn. Also Love how every story over laps at some point. and we still get blips of the other Federation officers lives and marraiges. The action and romance are fantastic. Both vioce actors play their role perfectly, even when voicing 4 different characters at the same time. each character has their own pitch and vocal patterns that are easily differentiated. The only thing I wish was that they voiced not only their seperate chapters but individual lines.
This story revolves around the accidental bride Tatiana. One of the federations best doctors whose sole purpose is to heal others. Her new husband is the Assasin. She finds her self at odds with their differences and his smug behavior. He kills people and doesn't bat an eye. Their perfect date gets spoiled and they have to work together to get back home alive. Several new characters have come in to play.
By the end they are coming to terms with each other and sharing their truths. the last few chapters give us a glimpse into the next couples story , and continue to follow the others which helps tie everything together.

So weak

Tati was a weak crazy main female character. The female in captivity had more balls than Tati; someone trying to kill your mate and all you can scream is”don’t kill him!” I don’t think so 🤔. It took a lot to continue listening to this. Faruz was pretty easily beatable to be an assassin. Pol was much better at warfare. Narrators did a good job, brought some humor to the story which is why it deserved at least 2 stars. I like to listen to a book about Pol.

The pacifist’s hangup drags things down

This installment lacked as much humor as the rest of the series, which was unfortunate because it also upped the angsty backstory for Tati. As she and Faruz find themselves hunted by droves of mercenaries, Tati must come to grips with the past traumas that formed her into a pacifist.

The friction between pacifist Tati and assassin Faruz also meant a slower burn compared to the other couples, and fewer naughty scenes.

Several of the formula bits were also lesser copies. For example, the pets that Tati gains come into the story very late and add very little. Or, for example, the schtick where she gets drunk, dosed or poisoned with something that makes her sex starved once again pops up, but just didn’t work for me as well as with previous couples.

“Either whip out your Twinkies and measure them … or let’s keep moving.”
The one new and improved bit was the addition of Pol as a third wheel to this couple’s killer conflict.
This was enough to make this a satisfactory sale purchase.
