Publisher's summary

Working as a bartender while her peers move on with careers and marriage, Billie Culpepper fears she will never discover her true vocation in life, until fate intercedes in the form of a mysterious Englishman who hints that she is more than she appears to be. Caught in the crossfire between the stranger and the police detective chasing him, Billie is knocked into a coma for three days. When she wakes, she is assaulted by horrific apparitions that no one else can see. She thinks she's losing her mind until the Englishman reveals that her eyes are finally open to the spookshow all around them. Billie can now see the dead and, unfortunately, they can see her too.

Like the wave from a magic wand, Billie learns that her destiny is life is to be a medium between our world and the one beyond. There's only one snag: it's the last thing on earth she wants.

Struggling with the choice of narrator.

Marie Chandler has a lovely voice but maybe she should stick with nonfiction. It's a wonderful story but it feels like she struggles with the emotions and multiple characters.

Good story

I originally got book 1 from a free download, the narrator was a good one in the 1st book. It really bothers me when sequels change the narrator. I already have been accustomed to one person just to change it up on the second book, it’s even worse when this one was so bad. There’s just one tone throughout the whole book and she was a sloooow reader. It helped a little to bump up the speed. The story was good and interesting to me.

Great Series

This is the first time I have listened to this writer and narrator. I really enjoyed both. I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Love It!!

Billie has always felt as if she didn't belong and never knew why. When she starts to learn the reasons for not fitting in and feeling like an outsider, she may wish she never learned the answer. I loved this book. There were lots of twists and turns and the narrator brings a warmth to the story that kept me engaged!

Can't wait for the next one in the series

The Narrative

The Narrator doesn't have a distinctive difference between character voices. I had to rewind a few times when listening after a break to remember who was supposed to be speaking. If I wasn't fully paying attention then I thought the same character was still speaking but when I reminded, it was actually multiple characters speaking.
