About this listen

Life works in mysterious ways. Four years ago, I became known as the girl with cancer. I refuse to cry. And I refuse to give in. A relationship with a man is the last thing I'm looking for right now, but one night with Parker changes everything. He is persistent, and he knows what he wants. He doesn't treat me like I'm fragile. But he doesn't know, and I'm not ready to tell him.

What if it changes everything? Tragedy found me when I was 17. Love found me when I was 21. My name is Aundrea McCall, and this is my journey.

Contains mature themes.

I couldn't put it down. It was an emotional roller coaster. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Great ending.

Great story, narration was good too but what an ending! Very emotional, had me in tears, but twisty and turny. I thought I knew what was coming, then "boom" another twist.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started listening to this book. Would it take the subject of serious illness and somehow paint a rosy ending or would it go for reality -- HEA be damned?
Happily, at least from my point of view, it went towards reality, until the end, when the author looses her courage and turns things into a dream. Of course, in order to make this a series, that had to happen, but it was still a disappointment.

Very realistic

This book is so amazing and has ALL of the feels you could ever want in a book. For a debut novel this book is beyond anything I could have imagined. Amanda writes an extremely realistic story and makes you feel everything right along with Aundrea and her family. I fell head over heels in love with right along with her with Parker and I felt so much when Parker was trying to process everything. I still can't believe how powerful and strong this story is. It make me feel like I was part of the story and that Aundrea was a friend. If you've never known anybody with cancer I think this book will make you feel so much and realize just how hard it is and what it does to a family. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a great book along with anybody who wants to feel all of the feels. I can't wait to dive into book 2. The narrators made this book even more real and brought it to life even more vividly in my opinion then if you had just read it.

Powerful, Strong & Emotional

Was an interesting story. A bit slut-shamey at times, and that "dream" ending was kinda corny, but it was a really great book about a girl with cancer not looking for love and finds it anyway.

great romance

Just listen to it! I’m sobbing like a fool from how raw and amazing it all was. From the moment they locked eyes to the very end of the story. Wow. Not only did the author write such a stellar story but the narrators did a wonderful job of being the characters emotions to life without being overly dramatic.

Beautiful!!!!!

I read this book back in 2014 and when I saw it came out in audio I had to have it. I remember just feeling so much of Aundrea’s emotion and her fight for life.

I loved the relationship she has with her sister and her brother in law. It really was a great story of learning to live with what life has thrown at you and not let it beat you. She doesn’t feel sorry for herself; she doesn’t wish it to have happened to someone else. Does she ask why me sure who wouldn’t but again like I said her attitude is everything.

You know me I am not a dramalama kind of girl and I am so happy this book didn’t really have that, there were secrets and not full truths about her sickness but I got that for the most part. I can understand why she wanted to keep it to herself.

I really enjoyed the love story and how it unfolds with Parker. That to me made me enjoy the book she was dealing with so much but she had Parker to keep things into perspective even if he didn’t know he was doing it.

I think my only real complaint about this whole book was her parents, the author does explain them “away” and all but I don’t know they could have been on the phone, whatever it took to be a support for her. We only get a little of them and I don’t know it just was the only thing I wished had been different.

I am so glad the narrator was someone who can put emotion in her voice and make us feel some of what the character was feeling, she was a happy character who tries to make it as easy on everyone as much as possible and you can get that vibe from Amy London’s performance and that was pretty cool.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

4.5 Intense Stars

I loved the story, either the author did some fantastic homework or she knows chronic pain herself. I am 11 years into several incurable injuries and illnesses and know exactly what it's like to live day to day with it so I can say she hit the nail on the head there, I loved the thought of having someone that would love you unconditionally like that, but I believe the sex scenes could be toned down, I wouldn't let anyone under 18 read this book for that reason alone. I'm sure this story will stay on my mind for quite a long time.

I cried through most of It

This book really opened my eyes regarding life with cancer. I was sad, happy, and a bit crazy at times listening to it. If your looking for a good story then this book is for you but be prepared for some tears.
