Publisher's summary

“A fresh, new voice for fans of horror...spellbinding.” (Andrew Neiderman, author of The Devil’s Advocate)

An evil so deep...in one so young....

Nine years ago, young Tamara Wade was kidnapped by her psychotic cousin Valerie. She endured horrific abuse that mentally shattered her. Now, at 16 years old, Tamara has created another world inside her mind. A world where dolls have conversations and where the dead possess her body to speak to the living. A psychiatrist would diagnose Tamara with multiple personalities. A priest might believe she needs an exorcism. But no one knows the true depths of Tamara's psychotic evil....

Yet...the Wade family is ready to move on from the tragedies of the past. Tamara’s father is about to remarry and create a new blended family. Tamara’s new siblings sense she isn’t normal, but even they don’t comprehend the true danger sleeping down the hall....

Tamara has just met a boy named Micah. A boy with a taste for sadistic killing. Together, they will bring forth a nightmare of bloodshed.

Can't Count All The Things Wrong With Tamara

D.A. Fowler definitely knows how to step into the mind of a psychopath and put those crazy thoughts on to paper. She is really able to articulate the darkness some people have inside themselves. As a whole I thought this story really ratchets up the craziness that we saw with What’s Wrong With Valerie. I thought that story was unbelievably dark and twisted, this one is so much more. The craziness and intensity kept me on edge and the finale was amazing.

Tamara is a special kind of crazy. She clearly has the same psychotic issues that her cousin Valerie had and then some. I thought that Valerie was a nutjob, but she pales in comparison to Tamara. She had that conniving mindset where she toyed with those she couldn’t control and abused those who she could. Her schizophrenia, voiced through dolls that she would have conversations with, was just creepy. Her relationship with Micah was just as messed up as she was. I love horror stories and enjoy the ones that are over the top graphic just to make your stomach turn but are completely implausible. This was over the top horror in a realistic way that makes it that much more scary.

Chantel Turner did a really good job voicing Tamara. Her tone and narration really added to the complexity of Tamara. Turner’s ability to voice Tamara differently depending on her mood highlighted how twisted Tamara was and that was incredibly scary. I enjoyed her other character voices especially the dolls.

Good, but too much going on.

This is definitely a wonderful book, but for once, I have to say that there is too much going on. It just feels that it never ends, every time I think we are about to solve one mystery, 10 other things seem to happen. There is such a thing as too little going on, I think this would be an example of too much going on.

Disturbing

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was intensely disturbing. There were se pretty graphic scenes in it so if you're sensitive to the topic of rape and/or detailed acts of violence, this book is not for you.

Overall it was a good book but there were some things that I definitely didn't like. It wasn't the rape or the murder or other acts of violence, it was the way it was spoken about by the characters.

The narrator was really good and was able to nail the different voices/personalities in the book. The story was not 5* quality to me as there were a few small details that rankled me but overall, it was a good intense read

Wow! Just WOW!

This book was gory, scary and so intense!

There is so much wrong with Tamara! The story was so good and the narrator was great! I really didn't want it to end and when it did, I immediately looked for a sequel but there isn't one. I want to know what happens next for Tamara, her family (living and dead) and her crazy boyfriend!

Don't hesitate, this book will grab you and take you on a crazy ride!
