About this listen

"Marry me."

"What?" I stared back at him, unblinking.

He moved closer, taking my face in his hands. "I love you, Evie. I look into the future, and the only thing I see clearly is you. Marry me."

What's an 18-year-old girl who was madly in love with her 19-year-old boyfriend say? Of course, I said yes.

Twenty-four hours later, I married Adam Gunner at a Vegas chapel to the sounds of "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Not the best omen. I get that now.

Then, exactly one week later, I left him. I walked out, leaving behind my wedding ring, annulment papers, and my heart, and he never knew why. I haven't seen him since. Not in 10 long years.

Now, he's here, standing before me. Looking at me with nothing but hurt and hatred in his eyes, he wants answers. Answers I can't give.

An easy listen!

A sweet second chance romance that was pretty predictable but I really enjoyed Samantha Towle's writing style. The characters were likeable especially Max with his witty one liners!

Drag drag drag

This story was disappointed. I listened to the whole story and I’m shaking my head one hour before it ended. I couldn’t believe this story kept dragging until the end! The narrators were the only reason made that I listened to the end.

Started very slow

At first I quit listening, I felt like it took forever to get going and I wasn’t really impressed. It got better but it was definitely a book I could leave and come back to later without being in a hurry or having to pay really close attention.

So So Amazing

These two really have their ups and downs. But are they will to fight for a HEA? The narration on this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone

Maybe skip the audiobook

I had read this story about a year ago and I loved it but I felt like something was lost in the audiobook.

This is a great second chance romance story, we get the back story, the current story, emotional depth very steamy love scenes and loveable characters. However, Evie's reason for leaving was incredibly predictable and Adam could be a real jerk sometimes. But that's what made the story seem so real. It simply two people who are hurt but still love each other and are clumsily trying to find a way to navigate their feelings.

I was not fond of the voice actors. I would just read the book.

"Chick Flick" Material!

Overall I enjoyed this story, but it would've been better had I read the book vs. listening to the audible version. I just wasn't impressed with the narrators... Other the male narrator's voice sounds great as a guy; It felt as though he was trying to hard to sound like a girl, which made the voice come across as a transvestite. The female narrator was good overall, just not enough distinction between the female characters.
The story drags a bit in the beginning, but the ending was great. I could definitely picture this story becoming a gritty "chick flick" (right mix of comedic timing, drama, sex, and adult content)

Adam and Evie

Any additional comments?

Nothing beats a second chance romance. This book is amazing. I loved the audio, I loved the characters, and I loved the romance.

Adam and Evie are the couple everyone strives to be. They may be young, but they are head over heels in love with each other.

So what could possibly tear them apart? What destroys a marriage? What hurts Adam and Evie beyond repair?

This is one of those books you need to read to truly appreciate. It's a book you should experience. You don't want the details because the details are what make the book. Those details make the story. Those details, the little ones and the big ones, make Adam and Evie.

Overall 3.75 stars

A second chance story told in the past and in the present. I found the back and forth a but frustrating especially when the reason was very obvious since the beginning. Despite that the story still made me feel an array of emotions. The way they met was sweet and the way they reconnected was explosive. Be prepared for an angry and hurt hero. The one thing that I didn't like is that while the hero sleeps around during the separation a lot. While it's not descriptive and we are mostly told about it I get annoyed when the heroine saves herself for the hero especially with the number of years in between. Overall 3 75.

Narration
Female was great and easy to follow.
Male did great as well except with his female voice. I think it would be better toned down a bit.

Drama! Drama!

What did you like best about When I Was Yours? What did you like least?

It was very disappointing. It was a sad love story that found each other. It was predictable but I felt it didn't have a good storyline.

If you’ve listened to books by Samantha Towle before, how does this one compare?

I have read other books of Samantha Towle, I felt this should have been done better.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

They needed a better narrators.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I felt the storyline did not flow better enough, there were some parts I think that the editors cut off, not sure why, maybe it was becoming of a long story. But, I rather have a long story, than a cut up one.

I liked this love story

It took me a little while to get into but once I did, I really liked it. I also enjoyed the narrators. I love a Happy Ending
