Publisher's summary

It's been 12 years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved. Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed, and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both 14. Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there's a complication to their instant feelings for one another - Will, Tru's boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake. Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world's most notorious womanizer?

Good Listen

Where does The Mighty Storm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's good. I wish it was a great as Olivia Cunning's Sinner's Series, but I haven't found any books based on rock bands as good as her's. Anyway in TMS it's good but I do get aggravated at Tru because she just can't seem to make her mind up on what she wants.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it isn't that consuming for me that I just have to listen until the end without interruption.

Any additional comments?

I'd rather get this one on sale than use my credit. Like I said eariler, it's a good listen, but I'd rather use my credits on those books that fire my senses.

High Quality Rocker Romance

I enjoyed The Mighty Storm which gave a bit different take on the typical rocker romance. The story line was unique as two childhood loves reconnected and tried to make an adult relationship work. With trials thrown in the way and great secondary characters to round out the story, I found the book enjoyable.

Jake.....Rock God

I absolutely loved this story from the get go. Hearing it made it that much better. With the narrators accent it really brought the story to life. Jake and Tru....wow, what a happy train wreck they could be. But also, what a beautiful couple they were when Jake was not using.

about 8 chapters too long

What made the experience of listening to The Mighty Storm the most enjoyable?

really liked the narrator.

Has The Mighty Storm turned you off from other books in this genre?

no

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

lots of emotion in the voices and loved Jake's voice

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

made me angry. I didn't like the stupid choices Tru made from sleeping with Jake when she was still with her boyfriend to the way she told him to the way she hung on to being mad at Jake for his drug use and sleeping around.

Any additional comments?

I don't like books written in the 1st person as a rule, but the narrator convinced me to listen with the hope of being hooked into the story. However, I put the story on fast speed to get it over with as I admit to being curious as to how it would end but just could not stand Tur's wishy washy back and forth attitude.

Great Story, but...

This was a great story, but the voice of Jake was so off-putting! Only worked when he was yelling. Also, Tru was not very sympathetic, I hope the rest of the series is better!

Great Story - Great Narrator

Where does The Mighty Storm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Close to the top. The British narrator was captivating to listen to and I really enjoyed this story. I definitely recommend it to my book friends.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jake - he is quite swoon worthy.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

Her British accent heightened my experience as I heard her voice not the one in my head who is not British.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No laughing or crying but it was intense at times. I may have shouted at Trudy once or twice while listening.

Any additional comments?

I have generally steered clear of rockstar romances because I don't care for the lifestyle and shenanigans they typically glamorize. I took a chance with this book and I am so glad I did because this is NOT your typical rockstar romance. It is SO MUCH MORE.

Jake Wethers may behave like a typical rockstar, but he is somewhat of an anomaly. Beneath the brooding musician is a complex man with wounds that run deep and a heart that has only loved one woman. While I disliked the behaviors, I fell in love with Jake. I was quite upset with Tru for a bit, but as the story progressed I came to understand the connection she found with Jake. They were soul mates.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, less a couple of things. I was enthralled with these characters taking every spare moment I could to read or listen to the audiobook. I was especially pleased to have book #2 ready to go right away.

Just Okay

This story was just okay. It had a nice plot and flowed nicely. I just couldn't tolerate the weak female lead and the sappy lead male.

Good Beginning to series ....

I liked the fact they were friends 12 yrs ago. However , Tru , drove me crazy , back and forth , making something out of nothing, running away. UGH! Loved Jake, even with all
his problems and his past. Tru needed to get off her pitty pot stand up like a strong woman who HAS Jake now !! But she didn't, and not knowing if she could live that life, well, bla bla blahhh. But over all liked this book. Look forward to following their story. Just some parts drag on a bit tooo much.

Excellent

Would you consider the audio edition of The Mighty Storm to be better than the print version?

Only listened to the audio version

Who was your favorite character and why?

True AND Jake of course. I wanted to kick True's butt at the end of the book but that means it's good writing. I also would have liked it to go a little longer to allow the ending to unfold. Or---book 2 perhaps???

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

She did a fantastic job narrating. Great job at Jake's voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh several times and tear up toward the end.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to more books by Samantha Towle. Get writing!
