About this listen
Arthur Nakai, now armed with his newly minted private investigator license, has visitors at his doorstep on White Mesa. Melanie Manygoats and her young son arrive on a cold winter’s day asking him to locate her missing daughter, whom she fears has become one of the stolen. Arthur accepts and soon finds himself wading through the world of teenage prostitution where he discovers April has already been sold into the darker, more horrifying world of human trafficking and sexual slavery.
Arthur’s quest quickly leads him to a man known to everyone in the trade as The Cuban. Running underage girls is his business; to him they are nothing more than property to be microchipped and tattooed to ensure they never leave his employment. For The Cuban, the door of the flesh trade is always revolving - and his clients are always looking for fresher faces and younger girls to please their insatiable appetites.
Meanwhile, Navajo Nation Police Captain Jake Bilagody has his own problems: A 15-year-old girl is missing, and all that was left behind was a bicycle hidden among scrub trees under a bridge over an empty desert wash. Are the cases related, or are they simply part of a bigger, more disturbing picture plaguing Arthur’s beloved Dinétah?

As painful to listen to as it was this was an exceptional book. Although very graphic it brings a lasting memory of what is happening to so many ingenious women. So grateful Mr. Langley wrote this book. We could all donate to MMIWUSA and pray our world become a more loving place

Fantastic! Both the story and the narrator
I have listened to the first three books in this series. I love the authors mix of the Native American lifestyle, worries and needs within such a well crafted novel. Bronson Pinchots narration is so remarkable that I kept looking to see if this was really the same guy from his movies!
Can’t wait for more!!

This story will grip your soul & emotions!
WHEN SILENCE SCREAMS. . . Once again, Mark Langley does an outstanding job of bringing to light the issues of today. The thousands and thousands of Native Women and Girls that go missing or killed all over this Nation. This story will grip your soul and your emotions and not let go till the end. I can only imagine what what horror that they really go through!! The story of April Manygoats is a powerful one. An amazing illustration of faith, strongwill, smart thinking and determination to find a way out of this nightmare. She was encouraging and helpful to many of the girls like herself in the same situation. She gave them strength and hope to survive.
Arthur Nakai continues to amaze me with his dedication in helping his fellow Navajo people and listening to their needs when no one else seems to care or notice. Arthur's relationship with his Wife Sharon is a very deep devoted love and filled with respect. I just love their relationship with each other!
MARK LANGLEY is very descriptive in his writings. He paints with words as colorful as the Painted Desert. I really enjoyed this book, just as much if not even more as Mark's other 2 books, Path Of The Dead and Death Waits In The Dark!! Highly recommend all of his books!! Besides reading, I also listened to the AUDIBLE version with Bronson Pinchot. Bronson does an excellent job as Arthur when he narrates this very suspenseful story! Barbara Langley you were correct, this was a very important and powerful story!!! I can't wait for more of Arthur Nakai's adventures in book FOUR! Continued success Sir!! Rick
#AdventuresOfArthurNakai #WhenSilenceSreams
Below are a couple of my favorite paragraphs from WHEN SILENCE SCREAMS. . .
While her back was to him, he let his eyes roam over the wall to his right. It was plastered with fliers of missing Native girls and women. Arthur felt his jaw tighten at the sheer number of them, and the emotional reality of his task became much more of a weight on his shoulders. It had never really hit him until he saw the rows and rows of faces that made up the columns that were pinned to her office wall. Among them was a flyer of April Manygoats: Age: 19, Hair: Brown, Eyes: Brown, Height 5′ 2″, Weight: 150 pounds. Last seen where and when and wearing what, followed by a phone number to call and a case number... “That wall is filled with the alerts of our sisters that have gone missing just this year. Did you know that at least twenty- five percent are under eighteen? I had a woman in here last year that was brought into the sex trade at nineteen, and she was still doing it at forty- two.” Shirley sighed. “The only time I take a flier down is when they’re found safe… or otherwise. And I am constantly updating it.” She exhaled heavily. “What really upsets me most is the fact that the media doesn’t give a damn.” “That’s because the media thrives on controversy,”
One of April's thoughts and an illustration of her determination. . .
No matter what happened, she knew she had to free herself and get out. This wasn’t a movie. There wasn’t going to be any action star or comic book hero showing up to save her. Freedom was going to rely on her alone. And she had to start right now figuring out how that was going to happen.
Thank you Mark Langley for bringing this subject to light!

The most powerful fiction I've read in a long time
Great writing and reading combined to create a riveting story that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Native American P.I. Arthur Nakai is hired to find a missing girl. His investigation leads him into the dark world of sex trafficking as Langley weaves a story that will cause some readers discomfort because it so closely parallels the real -life business that has been going on for decades and continues to operate on a daily basis. I believe the use of graphic details is justified by Langley's desire to remind his readers that human trafficking is a thriving business that needs to be stopped. This book tells a story that needs to be read, especially by the parents of girls.

Addictive!!!
When Silence Screams is the 3rd book in the series, and while it was darker than the first 2 books, it sheds factual light on human trafficking and the chilling mystery of Indigenous women who disappear.
Mark Langley’s writing, paired with Bronson Pinchot’s narration, makes this story (and series) irresistible and very difficult to put down!
Great characters, perfect
descriptions of actual places and progressive storyline made for hours and hours of listening pleasure.

Beastiality Porn
Sadly this series has become a sort of beastiality porn. It’s almost embarrassing to listen to. I kept listening though, unfortunately, because I was hoping for a meaning, I didn’t get a meaning. I’m not the better for the endeavor. The author hopes to give a view of what indigenous women suffer, but the descriptions often seemed too over the top and almost gratuitous to the author. I really don’t know how Bronson Pinchot felt good about the narration of this story. None of the previous books in this series lacked brutal pornographic imagery to some degree, but it seems to have grown more intense with each book. I have to wonder what the author is getting out of it and if we are the dupes for accepting it.
