About this listen

The addictive, page-turning crime thriller from top 50 bestselling author, Ross Greenwood

A crime story with a twist in its tale which will surprise even the most hardened thriller readers.

‘Fear the north wind. Because no one will hear you scream…’

A family is gunned down in the snow but one of the children survives. Three years on, that child takes revenge and the Snow Killer is born. But then, nothing - no further crimes are committed, and the case goes cold.

Fifty years later, has the urge to kill been reawakened? As murder follows murder, the detective team tasked with solving the crimes struggle with the lack of leads. It’s a race against time and the weather – each time it snows another person dies.

As an exhausted and grizzled DI Barton and his team scrabble to put the pieces of the puzzle together, the killer is hiding in plain sight. Meanwhile, the murders continue…

"Move over Rebus and Morse; a new entry has joined the list of great crime investigators in the form of Detective Inspector John Barton. A rich cast of characters and an explosive plot kept me turning the pages until the final dramatic twist." (Richard Burke, author)

"With The Snow Killer, master of the psychological thriller genre Ross Greenwood once again proves his talent for creating engrossing and gritty novels that draw you right in and won’t let go until you’ve reached the shocking ending." (Caroline Vincent)

"Ross Greenwood doesn’t write clichés. What he has written here is a fast-paced, action-filled puzzle of a story with believable characters and spiced with a lot of humour." (Kath Middleton, author)

Dunno

The story had potential however, the narrator ruined it for me with all the yelling and everyone sounding the same. The end was pretty good I'll say that.

Surprisingly good!

I have a bit of a distrust concerning the free audible content, but in case of this book I was pleasantly surprised.
A good interesting story, a bit if gruesomeness, good performance. Recommend

A page turner!

This is a fast-paced, gripping thriller mystery which I thoroughly enjoyed. I just couldn't stop listening. The narrator does a superb job. I was compelled to continue listening by the background story which you learn in the beginning, along with several cleverly timed twists and turns. I love that I was able to find a terrific free listen on Audible! Don't skip over this because it's free; if you enjoy detective fiction or mysteries, you'll love this title. A memorable story, well told--what more could you want on a cozy winter's eve?

A Mystery That Surprises

I enjoy a good mystery, but am turned off by too much violence and perversion. This had a psychological explanation, humor, drama and a surprise at the end while never going too deeply into the dark.

NO

Well I have to say I do not like books being read to me by 1 person. I like to hear the story line worked out as a real story. Now I understand that when you read a book on your own ,it is just 1 person, but you hear the story in your mind differently. It may be just me but that blew the whole series for me.

Book ok, narrator almost spoiled it

Was hard to concentrate on the book. Took me a while to figure out what was wrong. The narrator is so utterly unnatural. Tatatata -speed reading, then a loooooong pause between sentences, tatatata again, pauuuse, voice going up and down and all over the place as he was trying to act the roles. Awful. Made me angry, anxious, frustrated. Not the feelings I wish to experience because of the narrator. Almost made me throw my ipad out of the window at times.

DI Barton is Terrific.

The interweaving of plots and backstories make this a terrific book. DI Barton and his coworkers work together to solve crimes. He and his family offer context and just enough humor to ease reading of gruesome crimes.

I wanted to love this, but didn’t. Possible spoiler but not?

The storyline was good and interesting enough I suppose. However, I love while reading a suspenseful book that I get the chance figure all the twists out by the end. With this one the writer lets you know early on, which for me was a bummer. Still a good story and the performance was great too. Just found myself ready to be done about 2/3 of the way through.
