About this listen

The number-one New York Times best-selling author and Queen of Suspense launched her career with this classic thriller following a woman whose past holds a terrible secret.

Nancy Harmon long ago fled the heartbreak of her first marriage, the macabre deaths of her two little children, and the shocking charges against her. She changed her name, dyed her hair, and left California for the windswept peace of Cape Cod. Now remarried, she has two more beloved children, and the terrible pain has begun to heal - until the morning when she looks in the backyard for her little boy and girl and finds only one red mitten. She knows that the nightmare is beginning again....

Very good read. It kept your attention and kept you guessing who til the end.

good read

I’ve read hundreds of novels and listened to over 2 hundred fiction audiobooks. The narrator January LaVoy stunned me with her voice portrayals, modulation, and perfectly timed array of various emotions. The story was good. Not fine literature, but entertaining for sure. But the reading was a beyond-top-shelf, stellar performance. Rather than a single narrator, it seemed as though I were listening to a full-cast dramatization!!! I must listen to more books narrated by the same reader. Bravo!

Surpassingly excellent reader!! Good story

Absolutely loved this story and equally loved the reader. I try and follow both the writer and the reader as I love to hear the stories Mary Higgins Clark writes and love to hear January LaVoy’s voice! I don’t like a lot of readers but when I do, I try and only listen to those voices!

What I thought of “Where are the Children “

I think this was her first book that she wrote and I hadn’t read it before. I think I like her more recent books more but it was still a good story.

The first book

This book was very easy to follow along. It’s always unsettling that people want to believe the worst of people. That people don’t want to see the good in people.

Great book!
