About this listen

Single mom Lynn Morrow is determined to put food on the table for her son and daughter. Her soon-to-be-ex-husband has failed to meet his obligations time and again - but it turns out that Ed is struggling with his own demons.

Enter contractor Mitch Franklin, an unlikely knight in shining armor. A widower with two grieving sons, Mitch once admired Lynn from afar. Now he sees in her not only the sweet girl who got away but also a woman desperately in need of support. While rushing to the rescue of Lynn and her children comes naturally to him, he’s also wise enough to encourage her to find her own way...hopefully straight into his arms.

Great Ending

I certainly did not see the happening. What way tie series up. However, I wish the TV series followed the book better. Great read though.

Captivating Book

This is the greatest story of all The Sweet Magnolia series. I couldn't put it down.

Similar to rest of the series - Show is better

If you enjoy the others in this series, you'll probably like this one. I keep listening to these, despite my frustration with some of them, as they hold my attention well enough...Throughout the series, the heroines of the Sweet Magnolia books exhibit a passivity, incompetence and helplessness to their bad situations, until their Mr. Right comes along and makes things perfect, It's a case where I like the Netflix series better than the books, since the women and their friendships are front and center taking initiative, versus waiting for things to improve.

The twist in Where Azaleas Bloom was very predictable, and I was quite surprised by reviews that said otherwise. The narrator speaks slowly so listening at 1.15-1.35 speed, or faster, makes it tolerable with fewer long pauses. I'd rate this one toward the bottom - it's better than the droning, whining Karen books (Midnight Promises, and the Karen plot line in Feels Like Family).
