About this listen

When all the world around you is crumbling, who do you turn to in order to rebuild it?

Susan and Danny reunite at the worst possible time; while her father’s lies in the hospital and a hurricane has just blown through the Outer Banks, leveling her workplace.

Could this be a sign that there’s a new better life awaiting her in Scotland? Can she reinvent herself across the pond? Is Susan willing to take that extra leap of faith, and if so, will Danny finally be able to have the courage to mend his relationship with her?

Will they finally get their happily ever after?

Danny comes to the States, to reunite with Susan following a devastating hurricane. The Outer Banks, NC are not stranger to hurricanes. Susan now must decide to rebuild in the Outer Banks, or go to Scotland and give Danny a chance. The story brings you along as they work through the emotions, family, and responsibilities of an international move. I recommend reading the series in order, however it is still a good book as a stand alone. Narrator did a good job.

Like most of the five installments of Danny and Susan's love story, I found this one a bit disappointing. The big problem in their relationship (i.e., the “black moment” that must be in every romance)—which stretched from the end of the third installment through the beginning of this one, resolved rather quickly when they saw each other face-to-face again. After all the angst, the resolution needed a bit more to feel satisfying. This audiobook has a few powerful emotional moments in the states before moving back to Scotland. Susan is a problematic heroine for me. She's clearly got a great guy, yet she wants to run away as soon as the slightest hint of any adversity comes her or their way. That has been a theme throughout all the installments. I just don't like heroines who are like that. I feel like the guy shouldn't trust her not to keep running, even after they make their relationship more permanent. Most of this installment focuses on problems between Susan and Danny's family, who are frankly awful…so much as to seem unrealistic. The book ends with their marriage, but unfortunately, not even this was terribly satisfying, as it was mostly told, not shown, from Danny's point of view. As this story is broken into five audiobooks, if you want to hear the complete story of this couple, you have to invest a significant amount of money to get all of it. While I liked the Scottish aspect of it and even the funny little reminders of what life was like before the turn of the millennium, I'm not quite sure if I feel like the story itself is worth that.

We can only pick our friends and not our family as Susan and Danny are figuring out! Reunited after the devastating storm that destroys everything, they return to Scotland together. Once there they face a formidable challenge that could break them yet once again. Time will tell.

Aila Skye, the author, drives home that one has zero choices in family members, but one chooses the best of friends and that love can conquer all if given an opportunity. This book in the Whisky series furthers the adventures and love of Susan and Danny by providing authentic dialog that keeps the story moving forward at a steady pace. I thought the interaction (aka fight) between Danny and his sister would have been more vicious, Skye surprised me!

As to her character development, I have come to care about the characters as Skye has developed them fully with some being edgy and having moments of irony and sass. I have enjoyed how Skye has broken up each chapter by allowing Susan and Danny to provide their insight into the developing situations.

The narrator, Alexa Teebo, continues to provide distinct and strong voices for each character. It is clear which character is speaking not only by the words but by the tone Teebo utilizes for each. Her voice is clear and crisp. I enjoy her voice so much that she could read the dictionary and I would enjoy it!

Overall, this has been a wonderful series filled with twists and turns that are realistic when one is involved in a relationship. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys romance.

This is the fifth and final installment in the "Scottish Whisky" series about Susan and Danny. It is a fairly short quick read/listen and does ends nicely. There are five parts to their story so they need to be read in order. Susan and Danny who met while she was in Scotland with her friend. In this segment the storms have hit the Outer Banks leaving damage. What will Susan and Danny do? Will they finally find happiness. I enjoyed this final installment in their story and thought the narrator did a really good job with the accents.

I found this latest and final episode listen to be entertaining. While I find the characters interesting I do find them to be a bit dramatic.
