About this listen

A new, sexy stand-alone from number one New York Times best seller Vi Keeland.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city.

Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts.

I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time.

Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was. You see, that unexpected invitation I received? Well, it hadn’t actually been addressed to me - it was sent to my ex-roommate who’d bounced a check for two months’ rent and moved out in the middle of the night. I figured she owed me an expensive night out, but I guess, technically, I was crashing the wedding.

Once caught, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. As I bolted for the door, I might’ve plucked a few bottles of expensive champagne off the tables I passed, all while the gorgeous, angry groomsman was hot on my tail.

Outside, I jumped into a taxi. My heart ricocheted against my ribs as we drove down the block - but at least I’d escaped unscathed.

Or so I thought.

Until I realized I’d left my cell phone behind at the table.

Take one guess who found it?

This is the crazy story of how Hudson Rothschild and I met. But trust me, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Best one yet!

While I’ve enjoyed many of Vi Keeland’s books, this has to be my all time favorite! And of course, Sebastian York could read every audiobook if it were up to me! He and Andi Arndt make the perfect storytellers! From the clever beginning to the humorous one-liners, this book was just perfect!

Meh!!! 3 stars!!

I honestly don’t know how to feel about this one. Like some of the other reviews pointed out, this one is definitely NOTTTT steamy whatsoever. The story line dragged as well. I felt as if Vi spent so much time trying to sell us on this “signature scent” business rather than the actual love story. There were too many lose ends left undone at the end of the book. Which was a HUGE deal for me since, they were the actual plot twists. Overall I’m on the fence on this one. Wouldn’t recommend if you don’t have the money to waste on a credit, however if you’re on a long road trip and have stocked up credits, I say why not.

Wonderful!

After waiting forever ( it felt like, lol) for this book to come out I was so excited to jump into it today! There was just something about the story and the characters that completely swept me away and I finished the book in one day. I love the relationship that Hudson has with his daughter and how Stella fits into their little family unit.
If you’re a fan of contemporary romance you will love this story.

Sweet story

It’s a sweet slow burn with HEA.

Would have loved to know if Stella had a baby though (or did I skip this forwarding some parts? 😳)

I just don’t care for female protagonists inner thoughts in romance novels as they come off really stupid for being “smart” everywhere else and it’s personally irritating.

Other than that, it was a sweet story and would have loved to hear more about her relationship with Hudson’s sister and Fisher seemingly disappeared altogether. Did Stella and Lexi ever meet? The dramatic way it was going I thought they’d meet and Stella having a hard time keeping the secret but alas we are to imagine how things turn out huh...?

Is it worth the credit? Well, if you happen to have more than one and enjoy sweet love stories? Then, yes. If you love dark romance, this may be on the tame side... nevertheless sweet. Hudson I wasn’t too crazy... just a red blooded male in that department.

Narration... I like both Sebastian York and Andi Ardnt and they’ve been paired in a few books I’ve read so far and their performance is usually a 5 star rating for me.

Wow!!!!!!!

Words fail me, I laughed, cried went WTF! I have a lot audio books from Vi but this one takes the cake, I thought the Letters was great and it is but this one doesn’t it for me, for a moment I thought when she was reading the diaries that I had it figured out in a way I did but also didn’t, love Charlie and Hudson for taking the high road to protect his child, worth a credit definitely, if I could give it 1000 stars, can’t wait for another of her books. 💗(Maria)

Sweet Perfection!

Ok I know the year is young, but The Invitation is hands down going to be one of my favorite reads for 2021! Beautifully developed characters and an original, well-woven story line.

I am not ready to be done with this. Hudson and Stella are perfection together, and Charlie is a super sweet little doll. I have so many big ideas for their future that I am dreaming about a sequel even though it’s probably unlikely. I can still hope right?!

I got both the Kindle and Audible versions. Doesn’t whisper-sync yet like I was planning on, so I went primarily with audio this first read. I couldn’t put it down long enough to drive or work or do anything productive. The audio narration was spot on in my opinion. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this love story, just such sweet perfection!

Good story, well done!

The characters were well done & believable. thought the voice of Hudson could have been a bit more youthful. His voice sounded like he was in his mid fifties.

Drawn in from start

I was drawn in from the start of this audiobook. The story is mostly told from Stella's point of view and the whole wedding crashing section was a delightful romp. The story kept going on from there to develop into a beautifully complex working relationship where they worked for common goals and got to know one another. The "Big Crisis" inevitably came in an unexpected form and I was struck by the realness of the characters. My only complaint is Hudson's language was often quite crude.
