About this listen

Two women. Two families. Two lifetimes' worth of secrets.

In the wake of her husband's sudden death, Cassie Costas finds her relationship with her teenage stepdaughter unraveling. After their move to historic Tarpon Springs, Florida, Savannah hates her new town, her school and most of all her stepmom, whom she blames for her father's death. Cassie has enough to contend with as she searches for answers about the man she shared a life with, including why all their savings have disappeared.

When Savannah's rebellion culminates in an act that leaves single mother Amber Blair and her sixteen-year-old son homeless, Cassie empathizes with the woman's predicament and invites the strangers to move in. As their lives intertwine, Cassie realizes that Amber is hiding something. She's evasive about her past, but the fear in her eyes tells a darker story. Cassie wonders what the woman living under her roof is running from…and what will happen if it finally catches up to her.

I chose this book for two reasons. The author writes a wide variety of venues and holds my attention. I’ve read her for history, romance, mystery and women’s lives. The second reason is because I have been to Tarpon Springs. I have been in the cathedral and seen the dock where the young men dive.
I felt good about this book. I appreciated the parallels in the lives of the two women. The twists and turns in the plot kept it from being predictable. This author continues to be a favorite
One thing I would have liked is for one of the characters to focus on the Manatees.

This is the second book by this author that I have read. It is a refreshing take on a little bit of suspense, what’s going to happen, with true human stories and I thoroughly enjoy everything I’ve read from this author so far.

This book was not at all as I had expected it to be , however I loved every minute . It was not the mystery / thriller I am used to . Love a happy ending

Unexpected

This book went on for 1,239 hours.
There was no action, no excitement, no twists or turns, no drama- no reason that this book received ANY good reviews.

Besides the uninteresting "plot", there were so many errors. Medical errors. History errors. And , most importantly,
Pronunciation errors.

If you are of Greek heritage you may suffer a nervous breakdown over the horrible attempts at Greek accent and the jarring mispronunciations by alleged Greeks in Tarpon Springs.

The book took me 5 days to finish because it was so boring. But I had to soldier through, praying that it got better . Or at least interesting!

Simply bad.

Don't listen If You have a Yiayia!! Also-simply Awful

I listened to the whole thing, although I fell asleep for some of it. Not a fan.
