About this listen

Sometimes the quietest villages have the loudest secrets....

Ten years ago, DCI Patrick Walsh found himself hunting The Red Reaper; a serial killer so cunning that every body found with his calling card was reluctantly classed as a suicide.

Never seen, never found, never caught.

Now, DI Declan Walsh, suspended and on injury leave following the harrowing events of Hunter Hunted, finds himself pulled back into this unsolved case of his late father, when a series of new bodies start to appear in his village; all seemingly suicides, and all with the same calling card.

With the Last Chance Saloon now disbanded and under review, it's up to Declan and his colleagues to take matters into their own hands, as they investigate a serial killer case that takes them back to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and a cunning, brutal psychopath who was believed to be killed five years ago....

But who seems to be back, and has started again....

The fourth book in a series of procedural crime thrillers, Whisper for the Reaper is perfect for fans of J.D Kirk, L.J Ross, Ian Rankin, Damian Boyd, Alex Smith and Ann Cleeves, among others.

I totally enjoy the writing style of the author. Very witty and the stories have been excellent so far. On to the next book

Great characters.

I liked this storyline much better…I’m so glad we left all the posh ministry people behind, now if Jess’s mom would chill!!!

Much better!

a fairly decent plot line, covering a dark subject but not too dark which I appreciate there was a nice positive resolution for a lot of reoccurring characters. some interesting twists and turns and some foreshadowing of a different more traditional direction

another good book in the series

I was preparing to complain loudly about Declan’s serious misbehavior regarding one of the characters. Luckily, his ex-wife did it for me. I hope that wasn’t a spoiler. Otherwise, a very good story with more character development which means I am becoming invested in this crew. I already have the next book ready to launch.

A Rant was narrowly averted

This was an intriguing storyline with many twists and turns like all good mysteries. I love Declan Walsh.

The only reason I'm continuing this series is because they are free. Four books in and here's the synopsis:
1. All the police are corrupt
2. The story is more about framing a police officer than solving the actual crime.
3. The "team" doesn't know how to use Email or cell phones to communicate information.
4. The "supervisor" wants to "take the win" even if that means not prosecuting the right person.
5. Detective begs for "24 more hours" to find the right perp.
6. Someone has to explain the entire story in the last 20 minutes so the reader can understand how to connect the dots.

Predictable
