About this listen

Nevermore....

Eager to start their life together, historian Vickie Preston and Special Agent Griffin Pryce take a detour en route to their new home in Virginia and stop for a visit in Baltimore. But their romantic weekend is interrupted when a popular author is found dead in the basement of an Edgar Allan Poe-themed restaurant. Because of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the corpse, the FBI's Krewe of Hunters paranormal team is invited to investigate. As more bizarre deaths occur, Vickie and Griffin are drawn into a case that has disturbing echoes of Poe's great works, bringing the horrors of his fiction to life.

The restaurant is headquarters to scholars and fans, and any of them could be a merciless killer. Except there's also something reaching out from beyond the grave. The late, great Edgar Allan Poe himself is appearing to Vickie in dreams and visions with cryptic information about the murders. Unless they can uncover whose twisted mind is orchestrating the dramatic re-creations, Vickie and Griffin's future as a couple might never begin....

I love Ms. Graham's books, but especially the Krewe of Hunters series! Romantic and suspenseful!

Ms . Graham does it again!

I like these characters. My one suggestion, forget the New York accents. They make Griffin and Vicki sound dumb. Enjoyed the Poe twist.

Another Enjoyable Read from Graham

I think this Krewe story is one of my favorites! I love how Heather Graham mixes history in with her stories. I also learned things about Edgar Allen Poe I didn't know. As always, Luke Daniels was wonderful. That voice! Can't wait to listen to the next book!

loved it!!

It’s a great tribute to Poe and was very interesting. And as always Daniels is a great narrator.

She always gives 100% on history and plot!

I figured out who the killers were early on. I mean it had to be worker or relative to gain access to certain parts of the business and house. I thought Gary would be involved but he wasn't, the other 2 were spot on. Luke soothing voice helped me relax while listening. Like always Luke's vocal range was great, and bass on certain characters. Overall a 5 as I enjoyed this story while listening to Luke's smooth voice.

Excellent

Up to this point I have read all of the Krewe of Hunter books. As I have read other reviews of this and the last two Krewe books there are those stating they didn’t like or understand why Graham would focus on the same couple beyond one book.

Actually I enjoyed the fact and the books that focused on one couple for several books! We saw Vickie growing as a potential agent and also saw her grit and intelligence. This story was full of twists and turns and also sadness.

The stories also show us how much we judge others and make assumptions about behavior. Poe was a binge drinker and had a sharp tongue. However he loved deeply. Rather than looking beyond his past behavior people made the quick and easy judgement that he drank and died.

I see the spirits representing the sadness at leaving a living life and a longing to change choices that they made that would have given a different outcome. And as always I enjoy the history that is incorporated into the stories.

Always enjoy listening to Luke Daniels!

Enjoyed Griffin and Preston

Luke Daniels is amazing! He brings every character to life!! They are the best duo I’ve heard in a long time, great writing and a great voice!

Best series ever!!

Admittedly, I was a little disappointed with this book. I was hoping that it would feature Alex (who was originally introduced in Dying Breath) and his lady love, as they played a big part in Dark Rites (particularly Alex, as he was the catalyst for the story). As Dark Rites was not focused on Alex's romance, I was hoping this book might go a bit further into it. Perhaps Alex's experience allowed him to see things that others usually don't (the dead). I was sad that none of this was the case. It is another book featuring Vickie and Griffin and their relationship. While I enjoy reading about them, I would love to hear someone else's story. This is the third book in a row that has been focused on Vickie and Griffin as the main crime fighting couple. While the appearance and help of couples and characters from previous books is rather commonplace in this series, this is the first time there have been multiple books with the same couple as the protagonists. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and thought it was well written and enthralling, but I would've liked to see another couple take the lead.

As always, Luke Daniels did a fantastic job in his narration. Any book he narrates is better simply for him being the narrator. He is one of my favorite narrators. I love that he has narrated the entirety of the Krewe of Hunters series (with the exception of The Silenced, The Forgotten, and The Hidden [books 15, 16 and 17, respectively], which were narrated by Phil Gigante [also an excellent narrator]).

A bit disappointing, but still an enjoyable read.

love the Krewe hunters. This one wasn't a favorite of mine. It was like she was looking for a plot.

Storyline a bit boring
