I have read or listened to other books in The Wicked Widow's League series and enjoyed them thoroughly. This book sets up that club's beginning, telling the story of one of the founding widows. While this book is short, it provides deep insight into that great lady's life, and it helps you understand why she helped found the league and why its tenets are important to her and the other founders. The widow is incredibly sympathetic as we watch her lurch from one nearly unbearable tragedy to another with the help of her fellow widowed friends. If you've read or listened to any other books in this series or this series intrigues you, listen to or read this book. Although only just over an hour long, it gives so much insight into one of the grand dames in this series and is surprisingly emotional and heartfelt.

Story of Katherine Lockley who was one of the widows who started the Wicked Widow's League. Despite her heartbreaking moments, she stood steadfast/strong and used her resources/strength to help others like her and raise/love her grandson. Great story that has some applicability to the present time.

An absolutely delightful story about how the Wicked Widows League came about. It is short and sweet, and show the concern Lady Wyndam have for other women who are left to fend for themselves. The league offers friendship and support. As always, narration by Stevie Zimmerman is excellent.
