About this listen

The moment he saw her at the assembly in Meryton, he knew he loved her.

When Fitzwilliam Darcy meets Elizabeth bennet in the fateful autumn of 1811, their mutual infatuation is immediate and undeniable. Within months, they are married and spend a blissful winter at Pemberley, falling more deeply in love with each other than either might have imagined possible. But spring in London proves more challenging to them. Accident and artifice join to devastating effect for the young couple, destroying their felicity and creating an outcome neither might have imagined.

Two years later, happenstance reunites them. Sorrow and anger have built walls between them but the love they once shared still remains. Will it be enough to conquer the sins of the past? Is the love they still hold within them strong enough to prevail over the anger and mistrust that tore them apart?

Loved it

I loved this story! Needed a box of tissues, though. Lots of angst! Will be re-listening to this one.

Too Much Drama and Not Austen’s Darcy

Not the best of the author’s books. I used a credit on this because of all the rave reviews, although I waited months before doing so. I think the 2 critical reviews I read (as of Sept 2024) are more accurate than all the other reviews. Austin’s Mr Darcy would not behave in the way portrayed in this story. That is not to say that the author didn’t write Very Well as shown by all the 5 star ratings. That is a tribute to the author’s ability to tell a great tale. It is just that I didn’t care for the supposed hero of this story. If you want to be carried away with all the Drama and Angst, then you will enjoy this story. And as always, there is the narration by the marvelous Stevie Z.

Stick with it. Worth it all!

Amy D'Orazio either writes stories that make me snort my drink from laughter, or bring tears to my eyes. This is the latter. ODC do get their HEA, but it is hard earned.

Love at first sight unfortunately turns sour due to the actions of a completely evil (imagined) love rival, and unreasonable jealousy. Darcy refuses to talk at first, then later it is Elizabeth's turn to be stubborn. Frustrating and heartbreaking with a few moments of slight happiness which eventually turn to an astounding reckoning that finally is the catalyst to happiness.

This is a tough story to listen to, but stick with it. The troublemakers get their just desserts and there is much happiness by the end. I was both happy when the story ended, and sad that it was over. I have listened to it a couple times and it touches me the same each time.

Stevie Zimmerman is, of course, excellent as ever.

Really upping the evil bent of the antagonists

This was charming and dark, but I did find Elizabeth’s forgiveness of the liars a bit hard to swallow. Additionally, the author plays fast and loose with the verbal dexterity of toddlers.

Great read

Stevie Zimmerman always does a great job with the readings. The story itself is so full of true emotion. You truly fell the depth of Elizabeth’s pain. Wonderfully written and has real reactions not just fairly tail happy endings.

Tough, but very good

The sheetlr injustice of Darcy wrinkles quite a bit, but it is a very well written story. I'd recommend it.

10 STARS!

I cannot convey in words the emotions I felt listening to this story. It seemed I was in tears more than I was not. Very rarely has a story pulled me in so completely. Ms. Amy is such a wonderful storyteller. And Stevie Zimmerman is the only narrator who could have told such an amazingly emotional tale. I strongly recommend!
