About this listen

Fall gives way to winter in the Colorado mountains, ushering in snow, pumpkin spice, the bugling of elk, and murder....

Estes Park bustles with tourists and locals for its Halloween celebration, and Winifred Page and her corgi sidekick, Watson, are enjoying their favorite pastries as they greet trick-or-treaters outside the Cozy Corgi Bookstore and Bakery. But a chilling after-hours break-in at the charming bookshop leaves Fred and Watson shaken, especially with its connection to a recent poaching incident in the national park. By daybreak, on a cool morning walk through town, Fred discovers the body of one of the poachers....

When Fred's close friend, Park Ranger Leo Lopez, asks for her help in proving the innocence of a fellow ranger, Fred and Watson join the investigation. But with every uncovered clue hinting the police have the right person, Fred must uncover a mystery whose webs reach into the past and her experiences over the past year.

Even amid the beauty of the snow covering the mountains and the twinkling lights of the beginning holiday season, Fred and Watson won't make it to Thanksgiving without facing dangers and revelations that will change their lives.

Startling ending

The Corgi series has been very entertaining & enjoyable. Each book contained the same characters so it was pretty easy to move from book to book. This last book caught be totally by surprise as one of the good guys turned bad guy.

The characters are wonderful, this story line is the best so far, looking forward to the next one. I'll miss Branson...I wish there could be a sexy male voice for him...

In which many answers are provided

This book is the eighth in the Cozy Corgi series and some questions that have been lingering through the series are finally answered. I’m not going to provide any spoilers, though, so you’ll just have to listen for yourself.

Halloween is one of my least favorite times of year, but I might actually enjoy it were I in Estes Park, Colorado. Especially seeing all the pets dressed up in their costumes. Watson is such a good sport, though a grumpy corgi through and through.

Poaching has been an issue in the town since long before Fred arrived. In fact her bookstore is located in a former taxidermy shop. Ick. Her good buddy Leo is a park ranger and when his new colleague Nadia is accused of murdering a poacher, Leo asks Fred to help. At first it looks like the cops have the right suspects but, as with most murders in Estes Park, all is not as it seems.

As always, Fred comes into conflict with the police only it seems the stakes are much higher this time as we’re introduced to Chief Briggs who really seems to have it out for Fred. More chaos ensues and as Fred gets closer to the truth, her life is in jeopardy. Nail biting stuff. The resolution of this book was not what I was expecting and part of me was sad to see the turn of events but I suspect we haven’t heard the last of certain characters.

I enjoy the narration of Angie Hickman in this series. She has the perfect voice for each character and gives a great performance every time. I can’t wait to listen to the next installment to see what trouble Fred gets up to now.

This book far surpasses the previous books. Though the previous books were awesome, this will leave the reader with anticipation.
