Publisher's summary

A conspiracy to incite an American civil war. The desperate chase to stop it is on in a propulsive thriller by Steven Konkoly, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Deep Sleep.

After taking out a sleeper network, Devin Gray and Marnie Young are picking up the pieces of their disrupted lives. But the gravity of the conspiracy they helped to cripple is sucking them right back into the black hole of violence and subterfuge that nearly consumed them. Another sleeper network is awake.

A progressive congresswoman dies in a car explosion, vaporized by an American kamikaze drone—the beginning of the mayhem to come. What Devin dismantled is being rebuilt. The plan: ignite a civil war in the United States and burn America to the ground.

Seeds of unrest are planted. Threats are escalating. The clock is ticking as Devin, Marnie, and an unconventional team of allies play a cat-and-mouse game across the country to stop a domestic nightmare from coming true.

Critic reviews

“[T]he pacing is brisk and the bloodshed cinematic enough that a first-timer can wolf down this entry without having knowledge of the first two. This sends the series out with a bang.”Publishers Weekly

A great wrap up to another very good series.

Konkoly does it again.

Love the mix of characters from two different book series.

I hope the series is pure fiction.

It was an exciting 3- book ride.

Time for another Ryan Decker book or even Alex Fletcher come back.

Thanks,
Steven

Finally! The story concludes!

I really liked Devin Gray and his cohorts, however, the Devin Gray books are not stand-alone novels. Wide Awake concludes the Devin Gray adventure that was started in the first book, Deep Sleep, and continued in the second, Coming Down. The author writes convincing characters, and I especially appreciate that his female characters are strong, capable, smart, and valuable. His story was excellent, but it felt a bit like cheating to spread one story over three separate books.

All good.

Fast moving. Good story. Acceptable reading. Occasional victories scattered throughout the story. I liked it.

Wrap up

As already stated this was a great wrap up to the series. I’ll. Probably wait 6-8months and re-read the series with out a break waiting for the next chapter! Very well done!

I am just sick to death of political agendas

Especially when they are not based in any sense of reality.
Right-wingers are not the people protesting outside politicians houses. That would be the "progressives."
"Progressives" are not the politicians fighting for free-speech. That would be the right-wingers.
Right-wingers are not the ones causing violence throughout the country. That would be the "progressives."

However... writers time and again are pushing books that flip reality on its head and it seriously makes one question the mental health and capacity of the writers.

This book has some good action but you have to believe in a bizarro world to actually believe in it. Sorry, but this book could have been so much better had they tried to use a different plot device than trying to paint 1/2 the country as loony-tune, backward-thinking hicks...

Why get political?

I enjoyed the story and the conclusion of this latest Devin and Marnie adventure. What really stood out was the political rhetoric against everyday Americans who have been lied to for the last 25 years, or as the author referred to them in the book “the right wing”. He portrays Americans who have absolutely no reason to trust the government which has continually lied to them as a bunch of crazy whackos. This really turned me off of Konkoly for future reading.

Great continuation to the story!

Well written and kept you listening until the end. The style of writing really allows the reader to picture the events as they happen!
