A laugh-out-loud first love, second chance romantic comedy from MILLION-COPY bestseller Portia MacIntosh.

When life goes off track sometimes the only thing you can do is go back to where it all began...

Emmy Palmer is the star of Bragadon Forest, the biggest fantasy series on TV; adored by the public, living the life of glamour and luxury in London.

But when scandal breaks, Emmy must escape the city and return to her seaside hometown to lie low and wait for the storm to pass. And as tragedy strikes for her family, it is good timing to go back to her roots.

Emmy's agent decides it would be a good look to star in the community Christmas pantomime, but who else could be playing her leading man but her ex-boyfriend who she may or may not have ditched to move to London a decade ago...

As the show approaches, love and friendships blossom and the real question is - Will they? Won't they?

Laugh out loud funny.

This was really quite good. I really enjoyed the characters. Their was just such a mixed bag. Parts were very sad but other parts quite funny. Karen Cass did a really great job of narrating. All around good book.

Spot on!

I’ve listened to several Macintosh novels right in a row lately as kind of an addiction. Potentially as an escape from stressful stuff but I’m glad I did. This one struck me because I actually teared up! Not only was it particularly hilarious (wake date) but the care some of the characters had for each other was so touching. Karen Cass narration is perfection per usual.

Fun book

Easy book to enjoy. A break book - between murder & mayhem. But, an ok story, affirming that status quo is rarely enough.

Great story, best narrator

I loved this. It’s important for me that this genre does not have huge cringy moments but still can be a rom com. This delivered on that, and the majority of this author’s works do. I’m sad that I only have a couple more of her books to listen to before I’m done! I live the narrator so much, that I’m going to listen to more of the audiobooks she has narrated to lead me to my next series 🤞🏻 this, faking it, stuck on you, and plus one pact have been my favorite of the authors.

Great!

What a great story. Portia MacIntosh has written a fantastic story with laugh-out-loud situations as well as elements that pull on the heartstrings. It's uplifting proving that family is what matters in the end. The characters were well-written & most were endearing. And Karen Cass, what can I say about her narration? She is the best there is for these light rom-com novels. I could listen to her read the phone book & be entertained.

Love Love Love!

I absolutely loved this book! This story gripped me from the very beginning and I was engaged the whole time. I finished this book in 2 days I couldn’t stop listening to it. I wish this story kept going I enjoyed it so much. Most romantic comedies are super predictable but this one had enough great turns and possible love interests you really didn’t know what way it was gonna go. I also love that the main character is an actress, I feel like this is something you don’t always see in these stories. 10/10 would recommend!

Not Portia's Best

Storyline felt slow and ambling. No surprises or even moments of "oh no" or "oh my gosh what will happen next?". Would recommend if you feel like a read akin to a wander through the countryside.
