About this listen

Sir Jackie Stewart is a man of immense charisma and integrity and is one of the most highly regarded names in global sport: winner of three F1 World Championships, 27 Grands Prix, and ranked in the top five drivers of all time. On retiring from the circuit, he went on to build an equally impressive international business career. In the 1960s and into the 70s, with his black cap, sideburns, and aviator shades, Jackie Stewart was an unmistakable icon in a glorious era of style, glamour, and speed. On the track, his story is one of drama, excitement, tragedy, controversy, celebrity, danger, and massive success. Beyond the sport, his life is a compelling tale of battling against the odds and achieving world-wide recognition as an outstanding sportsman, role model, and highly accomplished and respected businessman.©2007 Jackie Stewart (P)2007 Headline Audiobooks Motor Sports Sports Funny

Jackie Stewart's Biography - self narrated!

Would you consider the audio edition of Winning Is Not Enough to be better than the print version?

This is better than the print version because Jackie Stewart reads it himself.

What other book might you compare Winning Is Not Enough to and why?

I don't know how to compare his story to anyone else - he is such a unique individual.

Have you listened to any of Jackie Stewart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've heard Jackie Stewart read his book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when he told the story of being tested for dyslexia at 41 and being relieved of the feeling that he had been stupid all of his life up to that point. I knew that he was told in school as a boy that he was stupid - I didn't realize the feeling followed him into adulthood.

Any additional comments?

The story is incredible and his accent is very enjoyable.

A humble and yet highly accomplished man who overcame a severe handicap.

Jackie Stewart’s book grabbed my interest because he took the time to speak at my son’s school (Chartwell School located in Monterey, Ca) about his issues with dyslexia. As a parent of a dyslexic child Jackie opened my eyes to hope. I no longer worry about my son’s future.

In the book Jackie barely touches his issues with dyslexia compared to what he said to the students and parents whose children are attending a school for dyslexics. The school is for children who learn differently. “Not all great minds think alike.” Jackie took his handicap, his different way of thing and not only survived but thrived by looking for ways to do things differently.

His talk changed my life forever in a very positive way. And as a result of my attitude shift it has changed the life of my 12 year old son.

I encourage you to take the time to listen to this YouTube clip posted on this page of my son’s school website.

Watching this video gave me the answers that I was looking for.

God bless you Jackie! And thank you for putting part of your life down in words.

Five stars all the way around.

Sir Jackie, in his typical modest way, takes the listener through a great, but all too brief journey through his life. I was hanging on every word. My Conley complaint is that I could have listened to a hundred hours of Jackie talking g about his life and experiences in racing and business. That of course is too much to ask for. But I’m very glad I bought this.

Winning is not enough

What did you like best about Winning Is Not Enough? What did you like least?

I was so excited to get this audio book. I was so looking forward to hearing Jackie read his book. I was equally disappointed that this was the abridged version. I have the book so I guess I'll have to solder on to fill in all of the details. I asked for a return when I found out it was the shortened version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Winning Is Not Enough?

Hearing in Jackie's own words what is was like for him to race.

What about Jackie Stewart’s performance did you like?

He is very relaxed. Very natural in the way he speaks.

Do you think Winning Is Not Enough needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Only if it's read completely through.

Any additional comments?

Very good idea.
