About this listen

Newly revised version now read by award-winning narrator Sean Runnette!

From birth to death, The War is all the citizens of Dystance know. As children it is drilled into their heads that war is the purpose behind all existence.

Winter doesn't agree. She's stumbled across remnants of life the way it was before The War began, and now she longs to be as free as her ancestors.

With help from her best friend, Cedar, and the boy she is forbidden to love, Tallow, she believes she can do it. Winter can see a life beyond the Pickets, beyond the constant hunger and the threat of death, beyond the war machine.

Can one teenage girl and her dream of a better life really change the whole world?

Wonderful story, great characters, and beautiful flow! Another superb one from Mark Tufo and Sean Runett.

Wonderful, Great, Beautifully written

I love Mark Tufo's books and always look forward to the next release of which ever book he has just finished. I was very disappointed when I started this story, I have already listened to this book, but with a woman telling it. I have been waiting for the next installation, and was even excited because it has Sean Runnette reading it, but sadly it was the same book with a different reader. :'(

Same book

Good story and, as always by Runnette, good narration. More of a young adult novel but enjoyable all the same.

A new Talbots dynasty

Great story can’t wait for the next book so I can find out how winter ... can not say more spoiler alert.

Cliff hanger

I just finished (but hope I haven't and that there's more coming) the Zombie Fallout series and cannot stop listening to every Tufo book I can get. I am excited to have started this series and loved the first book. On to book two!

I loved it

You can tell this is an evolving story, perhaps not completely yet sure where its going. Still hooked me, though. And Sean Runette is the narrator king!

Fantastic narration for a developing series.

I honestly didn't want to listen to this because it seemed like such an unwelcome change from what I love best about Tufo. I could NOT have been more wrong! Having already listened to every single Zombie Fallout, Spirit Clearing, Indian Hill, and other novels, this book was incredible! It utilized the love for old characters in a beautiful sneaky way that made me smile. That said, I don't want to give away anything. Enjoy an incredible ride that utilized the same wonderful narration and lyrical style as what made us love Tufo in the first place. Do yourself a favor. Don't miss this one.

Mark Tufo at his best.

Good book but terrible choice for narrator. Not only is this a male voice but an OLDER male voice for a young woman. Whoever made this decision needs to rethink it!

Using male voice for main character (female) poor choice!

I just loved this book and can't wait for the next one! Narrator was awesome, of course, and I have not read anything by Mark Tufo that I haven't liked. Zombies are still my favorite, but this is well worth the read/listen and highly recommended!

So Good!

Narrator is kind of boring. Tries to voice different characters and they blend together. Then you have to rewind to make sure you know who was talking. Story was good.

Good story....
