Publisher's summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Workhouse Nightingale by Holly Green.

Can this orphan ever fulfil her nursing dreams?

After her mother's death, Dora is sent to live with her father and his other family. But Dora is mixed race and illegitimate, two facts that see her treated as little more than a servant by her stepmother and half siblings. This doesn't stop the son of the house abusing his position, and Dora finds herself on the streets and pregnant....

Sent to the local workhouse, Dora's future looks bleak, but she still dreams of a better life where she can help others, as her late mother did with her herbal remedies. But can a girl from a workhouse ever achieve anything, let alone become one of Florence Nightingale's nurses?

an interesting story

this story is interesting but a little unbelievable I am not too impress with Dora the writer development of the characters are very poor I give her props for her herbal meditation and her nursing but personal life not too much I can't believe she didn't even try finding her baby and she was all go to get with Edward not remembering Gem until he says mistress not wife I am not surprised thanks be to Gem the story had good ending it barely held my interest the narrator did a fair job

Wonderful listen

The storyline winds through a spectacular maze of relationships, tradition, educational opportunities during a time that all were complex.

interesting by a little flat

It seems unfinished almost like the writer rushed it. I kept waiting for more but it would just move on to another topic.
