About this listen

“Go on a date,” she said. “You’ll love it,” she said. She was wrong!

It had been one year, two months and seventeen days since my last date. So my best friend Abby decided to sign me up for a dating app. She guaranteed that she could get me the best date of my life within one week. I didn’t really want to do it, but I figured what did I have to lose?

Turns out that I had:

1. $500

2. My dignity

3. My patience and

4. My innocence to lose

OK, so I didn’t really have my innocence to lose, but believe you me, Jack Morrison was my worst date ever. And I’ve been on a lot of bad dates. Trust me when I say that that was the longest ten hours and 33 minutes of my life. I never wanted to see or speak to him again.

But it turns out you don’t always get what you want in life, because Jack showed up the very next day at a family gathering I was attending as a fake plus one. As you can imagine that was a real pickle, Jack wanted to know why I went on a date with him when I’m dating someone else. But he can’t know the whole complicated truth of the matter. I’m in a fake relationship and now I’m being blackmailed by the worst date ever.

That’s not even the worst part. I decided to log onto this new app called “confession board” to seek some advice, but it turns out Jack Morrison is absolutely everywhere and he’s not going to leave me alone until I submit to his demands.

ONLY FEMALE NARRATOR

Christian Black was ONLY in the epilogue!!!!!! So if u only buy/listen to books with dual narration (like I do), then DON’T waste a credit !!! The story was very slow in the beginning and I feel like it missed the consequences of some decisions that were made 😠

Fun banter filled romance

This is a funny banter, bad date, fake relationship, emotional love story that will have you hooked right from the start.
Isabella is looking for love but hasn't dated in over a year. Her friend sets up a profile and talks to her date without giving Isabella any information but his name.
Let the fun begin.
The first date with Jack was terrible and it cost her money and a chunk of her pride. She was never seeing him again. Right?
Then the fake relationship with her friend Lucas. Oh man it just doesn't get any better. Jack is there and the word play and abuse just keeps going. But the feelings grow stronger. Maybe Jack is just misunderstood, or maybe not?
I strongly suggest this book. It looks like a great start to another fun romantic comedy romance series by J.S. Cooper.

Definitely I recommend this book yo everyone. 5 stars on Overall, Performance and the great story.

Enjoyed every page!!

I absolutely enjoyed everything about this book! Have you ever gone out on a date and not had it turn out like you expected it to? Maybe had it turn out even worse? Have you ever had a best friend that you would do just about anything to help them out? Well, funny thing because Isabella is about to find herself being convinced by one of her friends all about how she should let them match her up on a dating app. All because our friends would be so much better at picking a man for us than we are ourselves. Well, she meets Jack and well he is so good looking, that is about where the good ends. Right from the start things turn out less than stellar however there is something that keeps causing Isabella to continue on with the night. All the way of having some unintended sparks happen between them. Jack, who always seems to be saying the wrong things, can’t understand why she is leaving right after vs staying with him. Could it be the huge insult that he just said to her? It is nights like these when you say well it was just a date and I won’t ever see that person again. So, the question becomes if you did see them again what would you say? Would you be brave and tell them how you really felt, put you cards on the table? Would you try to have another go round, a redo for your date again? So, I mentioned a best friend; Isabella has a best friend Lucas who has also asked her if she would be a little more than just a date but to pretend to be his girlfriend. How far would you go to have a friend? So, Isabella thinks she is just going on an innocent trip to the country to meet Lucas’s family and pretend to be his girlfriend. Interesting what you find when you meet family. Everything about everyone might not be what they seem. Isabella is in for a big surprise. You will have to read what happens. Will Isabella see Jack again? Is there chemistry there, a possibility for something real? What is going on with Isabella and Lucas and will they fool his family or will the truth come out?

Worst Date Ever Review

**Audiobook ARC Review**

OK...this romance was decent...certain areas I did a lot of hard eye rolls but I enjoyed it enough to finish til the end. Isabella and her friends are really juvenile to be in late twenties. Now the banter between Isabella and Jack in the beginning...LOL...that was the worst for them but it was sooooooooooooo entertaining for me. Isabella talked all that mess but she was really into Jack. Jack had a ball riling her up which made it more funny. Their push and pull had me frustrated at times but I know it was a dance that had to happen to get to the end game...their HEA. The female narrator was good and kept me interested in finishing. The bonus epilogue with the male narrator was really not needed but OK.

Glad I stuck with it

This was my first time with these narrators. They weren't bad but also weren't overly memorable. The story itself started off a bit slow for me but I'm glad I stuck with it. The banter on said bad date was so juvenile but once it got past that part I loved the development of the story.

Isabella & Jack’s Story Wacky Romance!

Isabella & Jack’s Story Is A Wacky Romance About The Worst Date Ever & All The Drama That Follows! A Light-Hearted Quick Read Filled With Zany Humor.

This is book one in The Worst Ever series which follows four twenty-eight-year-old roommates in New York City. It is Isabella and Jack’s story.

Isabella, twenty-eight, hasn’t been with a man in over a year. A cheating ex didn’t exactly leave her eager to put herself out there again. She misses being in a relationship, but she isn’t lacking in good friends. She and her roommates – Emma, Chloe, and Abby – are all in the same boat. They met during their freshman year at Columbia, and their friendships have endured in the decade since. They share a cramped apartment in Little Italy as they struggle to get ahead. Since none of the roommates have had much luck dating, Abby suggests that they try something new. None of them like dating apps, but she suggests that they create profiles for one another and set up blind dates. Abby talks Isabelle into going along with the idea for just one date, and she sets it up without Isabelle’s involvement.

An artist, Isabella enjoys working with watercolors and teaching a class here and there. Her gay best friend Lucas – whom she also befriended while at Columbia – has dreams of opening his own coffee shop, and if all goes as planned, he wants to let her showcase her work there and offer classes, giving her a home base and exposure for her work. It would be a dream come true for them both, but there is a hitch. To finance the business, Lucas must ask his grandparents for an advance on his inheritance, and his grandparents, he fears, won’t help unless he meets their expectations. Lucas has not come out to his family, too afraid it wouldn’t sit well with his grandparents. They are hoping for great-grandchildren to carry on the family line, but to date they have none, and Lucas doesn’t want children of his own. He has convinced Isabella to accompany him to their home for a family weekend in Greenwich, Connecticut where the pair will pretend to be dating. Lucas hopes this will buy him some goodwill. Since they have been best friends for years, they might be able to pull it off, but Isabella knows her acting skills are lacking, and Lucas’s aren’t so great either. There are no guarantees.

Just before leaving for Greenwich, Abby arranges for Isabella’s date with a man named Jack Morrison. She has no idea what Abby said to him while pretending to be her, so she is already at a disadvantage. Things start off on the wrong foot, but the evening only gets worse from there. Jack is arrogant and insulting, but then again Isabella is in a combative mood. Their one-liners keep coming, and the mood is dizzying as they rotate between trading insults and finding common ground. Their date truly is the worst ever, but underneath their chemistry sizzles. Things begin to get steamy, but they always seem to veer back to shocking insults. It ends in disaster. Isabella is thrilled to put the worst date ever behind her and head to Greenwich with Lucas, but little does she know that trouble will follow her. Eventually, though, she finds her happy ending.

Book two in the series, Worst Boss Ever, follows. It is Abby’s story.

Isabella’s story is light-hearted and filled with zany humor. There is a lot of over-the-top banter that is very entertaining. It isn’t always politically correct – but good comedy rarely is. Isabella might be insulted at times, but she also bounces right back and gives as much as she takes. She is a strong character, which is nice.

There are a few issues that merit mention. First, there are some references to time that are confusing in the ARC copy, but they may have been cleaned up in the published version. Second, Isabella’s best friend Lucas struggles with the idea of coming out to his family. For many, this struggle might seem dated. That is addressed in the story, though.

Isabella and Jack’s story is a wacky romance about the worst date ever and all the drama that follows. It is dialogue-heavy and a fairly quick read. The plot is simple. This story is the first in a series and introduces characters that will have their own stories told in turn. The story is told in first person in Isabella’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

I had several laugh out loud moments when reading this! The sarcasm and by plays with Jack and Isabella were hilarious! I loved getting to know the family and hope to hear their love stories as well!
