About this listen

Flooded with panic, two words burst through Erin’s mind: GET HELP. She ran for the door, but someone grabbed her, twisted her arm behind her. Erin’s shriek was smothered by a cold, clammy hand. “Shhh—” Breath tickled her ear—“Just take it easy….”

Surrounded by the oppressive sand, heat, and tension of Operation Desert Storm, soldiers Erin Grayson and Christina McIntyre shared a special bond. But when an ugly secret from Chris’ past shattered their close friendship, they went their separate ways without even a goodbye.

Four years have gone by since that day in the desert, but Chris has spent her entire life running from the past, hiding her deepest secrets from those who care for her most. And now tragedy has ripped apart her life. She sees no hope in tomorrow.

It’s a good day to die….

Overcoming her own anger and doubt, Erin rushes to Chris’ Colorado cabin. When Chris’ fear of God and Erin’s faith in Him collide, they are involved in a different kind of war that only one of them can win. As Chris wrestles with grief, fear, and ghosts from the past, Erin fights to pull her from the brink of self-destruction. She will not lose Chris again.

One of the best books I've read

What made the experience of listening to Wounded Healer the most enjoyable?

The way the focus of the book was on Chris who is flawed and broken. And how she was able to build on her strengths. The way it showed that there is hope and a new way and how it's within reach. The book reminded me of my own life and the people who reached out to me. It was a very touching book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris. Because she reminds me of me. Because she isn't perfect. You'l could feel her fear and anguish and doubt. Erin annoyed me a little at times being so perfect but also she was a compassionate friend to Chris. Scott made me so angry but I enjoyed that aspect of the story and the strain it put on their relationship. Very realistic that he and Chris would clash a lot even though both love Erin.

What does Reneé Raudman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have read the book and listened and defiantly the emotion is more palpable when someone is acting the characters. The Character of Chris I could always hear in my head clearly but I did Come to understand and like Erin much more Hearing the voice acted out rather than my own interpretation. She seemed much more genuine in the audio book. In my own reading I think I projected a more condescending tone to her. So that changed the experience for me.

If you could rename Wounded Healer, what would you call it?

Unworthy

Any additional comments?

Great read. Christian fiction doesn't get as wide an audience as it deserves. Which is a shame because while the book was about God and the differenc he makes in a life and how he can heal etc the primary story for me was of friendship and not giving up on those you love. So in a way it's a shame the story is written behind the Christian message as it narrows the audience. A really great book that deserves more readers.
