Publisher's summary

As a member of the Bourbon Street Boys private security firm, Antoinette "Toni" Delacourte is one strong woman, but despite her reputation for being tough as nails, she is haunted by her past mistakes. Now they're catching up to her, and throwing her for a loop.

Ten years ago, Toni kissed Lucky, her brother's best friend. Worried it would break apart the group she'd come to see as family, she walked away - straight into the arms of Charlie, and an abusive relationship.

For the past decade she's tried to keep her feelings for Lucky platonic - he's her friend, her colleague, and he's got his own past to deal with. Free of Charlie but unable to shake his memory, Toni finds herself feeling vulnerable and unable to deny her attraction to Lucky any longer.

She's always thought that kiss was her first mistake, but now she's wondering whether the real mistake was running away.

Urgh... the narration

I was trying to figure out how the same narrator could jackup the narration between books but no wonder... Sophie... she's different... and she SUCKS a full box of rocks... sounds like she's swallowed them. she narrates like a toddler or s chainsmoker...

So disappointed with the narrator!!!!!

I am an audiobook junkie (1000+++in my libraries) and this is the first one in years I stopped listening to in the first 30 minutes, and I was trying to be optimistic by listening 30 minutes in hopes it would get better. The narrator was TERRIBLE!! I know she was trying to do a New Orleans accent but it was so awful it was a distraction. Pass on the listen and pick up the book to read the story. So disappointed because the previous books were great.

Loved it!!! Third installment out of 4 book series. Big Surprises!!! All books are stand alone but starting with the first and listening straight thru, it's so much better!!!

Narration wasn't to my liking!

Was quite disappointed in her voice for the men. Had some trouble with her accent too. Story was good however.

Horrible narrator

I liked this book series, although the terrible cajun accent ruined the whole story. Why was she the only one with an accent? Why not just let the character talk normal like everyone else? And why make Ozzy sound like he had severe smokers lungs in this book when he didn't sound that terrible in the other books? This narrator just needs to not attempt accents....ugh.

that narrator...

The story wasn't bad, but the narrator made it hard to listen to. The attempt at Toni's accent is painful. When she's not doing the accent it's actually good, then men's voices are better done than a lot of other female readers.

great book, don't care for the narrator

I like the story so far but I can't finish the book because the narrator's voice is irritating.

Ok book.

The narration of this book is almost painful. The Narrator should go back and listen to the previous books before narrating.
