About this listen

Wuthering Heights follows the tumultuous lives of Catherine and Heathcliff, two young playmates who become soul mates. While Catherine's wild childish capriciousness develops, Heathcliff "exemplifies the effects which a life of continued injustice and hard usage may produce on a naturally perverse, vindictive, and inexorable disposition". Heathcliff and Cathy believe they are meant to love one another. But when cruelty and snobbery seperate them, their wild natures literally consume them.

Good story but a little too "dense"

When I listen to books on Audible, I don't like to work. I had a hard time following who was who listening. I think this is a book that might be better to read so you can flip back and better follow it. After the first few chapters it gets easier, but I had to pull a summary online to get through the first two chapters. After that, I did enjoy the story and the book.

Ahhhh Heathcliff and Cathy...

love this book, love this story. I disagree with most reviewers who say the main characters have no redeeming qualities. Heathcliff is like a hurt animal, striking out at all, even those who love him best. Cathy is like a spoiled child to be sure, but it is her childlike view of the world and love that endear her to me. both are too ignorant and prideful to admit their love for one another in life, but in death, they are joined.

Sarah K

Struggled through the whole book. Story is dark and not in a good way. Characters are awful and unlikable. Narration was ok except for Joseph's voice, could not tolerate it! Barely made it to the end, only finished through sheer determination.
