Publisher's summary

For the first time in one audio collection, all 16 Yes Minister radio episodes plus six further TV episodes, 14 Yes Prime Minister episodes and two bonus sketches.

Between 1980 and 1988 on BBC television and radio, the exploits of the Rt Hon Jim Hacker MP (Paul Eddington) - later Prime Minister - kept the British nation enthralled. Helped - and hampered - by his diligent Permanent Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby (Nigel Hawthorne) and his Principle Private Secretary Bernard Woolley (Derek Fowlds), Hacker and his department became synonymous with government bureaucracy and administrative double dealing. Presented here, for the first time in one collection, are the complete radio series of Yes Minister and the complete BBC television soundtracks of Yes Prime Minister. Also included are six TV soundtracks of Yes Minister and two special bonus mini-episodes: "The PM’s Plan", recorded in 1984 with Margaret Thatcher as herself, and a special segment created for "The Funny Side of Christmas" in 1982.

Laughted our loud!

This is a great series and one I will listen to again and again. It's farcical banter and beaurocratic nonsense has made me laugh out loud on my commute many any times. Such good fun!

What an Intro to British Politics!

I listened to this series because I couldn't find it to watch online - it had been recommended to me, as an outsider, to understand British politics. But what an introduction!

I'm sure the series was wonderful but audio-only has limitations - often the most important things are said too quietly to hear.

perfect

I would concur with the proposition of a motion, made in the right course of time, that would convey the affirmative sentiment concerning the positive, rather then the negative when the opinion is being consulted on the matter of which an inquiry is being made, leading to a report made out of experience by this member of the listeners.

it's fantastic

Loved every minute.

Still as much fun as remebered it to be. The only sad part is how relatable it still is more than 20 years later.

Brilliant

Loved every minute of it but with the Yes, Prime Minister (2nd part of the book) it's obvious it's just the audio from the series on TV.
Nevertheless really enjoyed it.

Exceptional Political Satire

The radio version of one of best British sitcoms ever. The show is dialog heavy so the lack of visuals has little impact.
Despite being produced in the early 80's, the satire is just as relevant today as it was when it was first broadcast.
Government incompetence at its finest.

Does this work as an audiobook? Yes, Minister ...

This wonderfully witty, clever and beguilingly cynical look at British politics made perfect television when originally made, and it works just as well as an audiobook. Those familiar with the series will be very pleased by the chance to re-encounter Jim Hacker, Sir Humphrey Appleby and Bernard Woolley, and those unfamiliar are in store for a real treat.

Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister will reward multiple listenings, and there are two bonuses among the episodes: The Yes Minister sketch involving Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and a Christmas Greeting from Sir Humphrey Appleby to Jim.

Download it as soon as you can - you certainly won't regret it!
