Publisher's summary

It sounded so simple in theory: ready...aim...fire...but what actually transpired was so much more.

Officer Nicole Nolan holds the gun steady in her hands, knowing that life will be forever altered once she pulls the trigger. Her position as a small-town police officer is to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It is her career, and her life.

Amanda stands where protection does not exist. With several failed relationships behind her, Amanda turns a blind eye to the possessiveness Josh displays in order to soothe her desperate need to be loved. As the mental abuse turns violent, Amanda must deal with the denial and embarrassment of being a victim once again. With her emotional and physical health sitting on the edge, she must fight to regain control of her life.

A gripping story with one final destination, but will it be life or death?

Domestic Violence

This is another emotional and powerful story about domestic abuse, and how victims can start a new life, knowing that there’s hope and they are, indeed, are not alone.

Another great book from Stacy Eaton

Stacy Eaton books have become automatic downloads for me. I think this is the 4th book of hers that I have read and just couldn’t put down. I finished this book in one sitting. I will say, this was not my favorite Eaton book, not because it wasn’t as good as the others, rather, the main character was just so frustrating! I found myself talking to her on several occasions. Still, for a character to get that kind of reaction, I think it must be a well written, well formed, realistic one. Overall, excellent story, fabulous narration. I absolutely recommend this book!

Trigger Warning - Multiple Domestic Violence Situa

Trigger Warning - Multiple Domestic Violence Situations

This is for both the ebook and the Audible

This was a very hard book to read because of the multiple domestic violence situations. The book deals with narratives from both the victims, including Amanda, a victim, and Nicole, a police officer that encounters many domestic violence victims. The Audible narrative made it easier to listen to. A very soothing voice.

As hard as it was to read, I highly recommend it. It really helps to understand how a victim may have trouble asking for help and why they may stay with the abuser. And there is a huge twist in the book.

I received an Audible from Free Codes. I purchased the ebook myself. My review is voluntary and honest.

A difficult subject, Very well done

This is a dynamic story of Nicole and Amanda. The subject matter of domestic violence is quite difficult to read/ listen to. It makes it even more difficult because everyone wants to see themselves as empowered women who stand up for themselves. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, and watching Amanda continually in difficult relationships is frustrating. Very well done.

An emotional roller coaster!

I honestly went through the full range of emotions while listening to Whether I’ll Live or Die. Stacy Eaton’s writing style is so powerful. The journey that the victims of the domestic violence endured were presented in such a real and raw manner... my heart broke for them. I feel I should have seen the surprise twist coming, but I didn’t.

Julie Walters’ narration only added to the story. She really brought out all of the emotions with her performance.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Heartwrenching

Stacy Eaton delivers a powerful book with Whether I'll Live or Die. We follow two women. Nicole is a police officer, sworn to protect and serve those in need and Amanda, a woman in need of protection. Though their paths never cross, their stories are strong. We mostly hear Amanda's story. From the time she finds love, her choice of men tends to be those that are abusive. Always loving in the beginning, their continual physical and emotional mistreatment leads Amanda to really believe that she is the problem. Eaton takes us on a very emotional journey of the hows and whys abused people will take the blame and support the abuser. As a listener, it's heart breaking and completely frustrating how this happens. Amanda's husband Josh truly is the epitome of horrible and as she goes back and makes excuses for him, it is disheartening. Nicole's journey takes us on the other side, letting us see from the perspective of the officer how to deal with the abuser and help the abused. She is so good with the victims and truly helps them find a new normal. The story is a tough one, very raw and realistic and makes you think. The message is evident, and to find that strength to get the help is an uphill battle. It's a powerfully written story, well worth the listen.

Julie Walters gives a fine performance. She makes us feel that desperation for acceptance that Amanda is seeking. She helps to build the emotions and brings it to the forefront. As Nicole, she gives us a confident woman and when making the difficult choices, we are privy to her feelings. This is a must listen book!

This should be compulsory listening for teenagers.

This is a book that both sexes could learn a lot from. Not only does it show the difference that self esteem issues can make in a person's life, it also highlights that you are the one in charge of your life.
Yes, good friends and family can help, or hinder, a person's ability to navigate life's potholes. However, it is the individual's PMA (positive mental attitude) that empowers them to have a good life.
There are enough people in the world that will treat you as their personal doormat, if you let them! Yes it takes strength of character and an ability to say "No, I won't stay and put up with this, because I am worth more than this!"
There's places to go, people will help, if you are willing to ask for assistance.
I enjoyed listening to the audiobook and the twist at the end was surprising, as the voice characteristics of the two characters came across as completely different in attitude to life, and that individuals ability to cope with what is thrown their way.
