Disc golf is more than a game, Patrick D. McCormick carefully argues; it can be a window that shows us how we interact with the world. The way we play is the way we live.
This book is about the sport of disc golf, but it also is about so much more than throwing a disc at a basket. For the passionate practitioner, disc golf becomes a meditation, and practicing has the potential to make us not only better players but better people. We begin to focus on what we are doing on the course that is working or not working versus what we are doing at home or in the office.
Zen and the Art of Disc Golf is about becoming the best players we can be and in turn becoming the best possible version of ourselves through cultivation of attitude, focus, determination, and mental strength. It is about mastering the mind, body, and spirit in such a way that we score better and live better.
- Inside this book you will learn:
- What disc golf can teach us about life and success.
- The secret formula for success on and off the course.
- How to create the proper attitude.

Would you consider the audio edition of Zen and the Art of Disc Golf to be better than the print version?
The audio edition is ideal for those consumers (like myself) who have long work commutes and little time after work to set aside to digest a book in printed form.Who was your favorite character and why?
The top-ranked local disc golfer who played with only one disc, and exuded a positive attitude in contrast to a similarly-ranked competitor who had multiple discs, multiple excuses, and a negative attitude overall. I play with people who are similar to both types of players, and the book really brings out the importance of carrying a positive philosophy not only to the disc golf course, but also to life as well. What about Matt Hays’s performance did you like?
Matt's reverence to the subject matter were evident by his enthusiastic tone he maintained throughout the book. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, although my commute is not that long enough to do that.Any additional comments?
Patrick McCormick's book decisively addresses the mental aspect of disc golf, which is something I have been looking for in trying to improve my game. There are so many online resources one can access to improve the technical and mechanical aspects of one's game, but none come even close to becoming a better player mentally. The book is well-written to capture the Zen aspects of visualization, positivity, and extending these principles beyond the disc golf course into daily life. It is reminiscent of "Sacred Hoops" written by Phil Jackson in that sense. Thank you Patrick for sharing your wisdom, passion, and vision with the rest of your disc golf peers.Change Your Game and Life With This Book
