About this listen

Performed by Trevor Moawad with a foreword written and read by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson

From a top mental conditioning coach - "the world’s best brain trainer" (Sports Illustrated) - who has transformed the lives and careers of elite athletes, business leaders, and military personnel, battle-tested strategies that will give you tools to manage and overcome negativity and achieve any goal.

He knows how to win. More, he knows the many ways - subtle, brutal, often self-inflicted - we lose.

As the most trusted mental coach in the world of sports, Trevor Moawad has worked with many of the most dominant athletes and the savviest coaches. From Nick Saban and Kirby Smart to Russell Wilson, they all look to Moawad for help finding or keeping or regaining their competitive edge. (As do countless business leaders and members of special forces.)

Now, at last, Moawad shares his unique philosophy with the general public. He lays out lessons he's derived from his greatest career successes as well as personal setbacks, the game-changing wisdom he's earned as the go-to whisperer for elite performers on fields of play and among men and women headed to the battlefield.

Moawad's motivational approach is elegant but refreshingly simple: He replaces hardwired negativity, the kind of defeatist mindset that's nearly everybody's default, with what he calls "neutral thinking". His own special innovation, it's a nonjudgmental, nonreactive way of coolly assessing problems and analyzing crises, a mode of attack that offers luminous clarity and supreme calm in the critical moments before taking decisive action.

Not only can neutral thinking raise your performance level - it can transform your overall life. And it all starts, Moawad says, with letting go. Past failures, past losses - let them go.

"The past isn't predictive. If you can absorb and embrace that belief, everything changes. You'll instantly feel more calm. And the athlete - or employee or parent or spouse-who's more calm is also more aware, and more times than not...will win."

Want to become a mental giant? Read this book.

I’ve always wondered how Russell Wilson was able to be so calm in championship moments. This book gave me a glimpse into that and also why he responds in post game interviews the way he does. It is extremely practical for my industry which is mortgages in real estate. I can’t recommend this book enough. I loved it and will re-read it over and over and make sure I gift it To my business partners and colleagues. Thank You Trevor, Andy and Russell For introducing me to neutral thinking. I will put the methods I learned from this book and put them into practice.

I'm staying neutral!

Trevor's message resonated with me because I've never been a very optimistic or pessimistic person I just am what I am and this whole thing with the neutral, changes my perspective because my change now is only a few degrees instead of 90 or 180 degrees for a complete change. I've tried positivity before and I will say it's worked, but unfortunately it just has never been a sustainable thing for me to carry and continue. I've been able to implement this strategy immediately.

One of the best reads on leadership yet

Excellent book! I'm a huge fan of all things mindset and leadership and have consumed a LOT of material. This was one of the best. I'm also a HUGE Seahawks and Russell Wilson fan and beyond what he's done for our team, I now know why there's always been a deeper respect and connection. Well done and thank you for sharing your wisdom!

My gratitude for Trevor

There are some memorable stories that will always be in my mind. Especially the story of the train car worker! So powerful. I am grateful for Trevor's no bull language and openness. How fortunate we are to having him share his life.

Mindset & Neutrality In thinking is the message:)

tons of self-help books out but this is different for the sample fact that you're told not to lie to yourself and say "be positive" during a negative streak but rather here's what needs to be done to get back to a neutral-state to increase the likelihood of yielding a positive outcome.

Dope book. Don't talk about helping yourself or someone else until this is heard.

PERIOD

fantastic

I don't review many books, but listen to 1 a week. This one was worth reviewing. My favorite of the year so far. Trying to be neutral with my review, but the positive outweighs the negative with this one.

Cannot say enough good things about the principles learned in this book. Easy to implement, and the stories remain in the forefront of your mind long after the book finishes. I talk about this book to many, often. Well worth the time and definitely leaves you wanting to learn more.
