Publisher's summary

Artemis meets Gravity in this gripping, adrenaline-fueled ride.

For war hero Caitlin Taggart, mining work on the Moon is dirty, low pay, and high risk. But no risk seems too extreme if it helps her return to Earth and the daughter she loves more than life itself. Offered a dangerous, long-shot chance to realize that dream, Caitlin will gamble with more than just her life.

By leading a ragtag crew of miners on a perilous assignment to harvest an asteroid, Caitlin could earn a small fortune. More importantly, it would give her clearance to return to Earth.

But when an unexpected disaster strikes the mission, Caitlin is plunged into a race to save not only herself, but every human being on Earth.

good but room for improvement

It hit slow points, like the flashbacks to past military service that had no real meaning. Some disconnected story points but overall a good listen (audio book) that I wanted to finish. just not a 5 for intensity or gripping story. audio performance was great

Science fiction that is about people.

listened to the first 23 chapters over several months - just trying to find time. then while raking leaves I finished the book.
Suspenseful with unexpected twists. I like thar the author added several chapters to wrap up the lives of the characters. It made for a complete story experience.
The narration was easy to listen to and set the mood.

bad ending plot devices ruined it for me

the story would have been better if they didn't have such a lousy plot devices at the end. EMP pulse is that get rolled back because it's important to the plot of crazy stuff I felt like I was watching Armageddon with fire in space with no atmosphere

Every cliché ever written is reproduced here

I listened and listened hoping at some point the author would come up with something original rather than a collection of clichés, so worn out, but no. The veteran who returns home only to feel out of place. “No one understands me or what I’ve been through,” boo-hoo boo-hoo etc. etc. “Only my fellow veterans can understand me and we are brothers and sisters” etc. etc. The Middle East has run out of oil? And this creates a void and war? I’ve never heard that one before.
The preposterous idea that there would be discrimination against moon born humans after only one generation. Any kid coming back from the moon to a grammar school would be the star and the envy of everyone.
I look to science fiction for originality but from the first page all I heard were events lifted straight out of the present day. It was nothing but cut and paste. From the current political situation at home to the “No one can understand me or know what I’ve been through“ of the virtuous veteran, I was wishing I was on an airline so there might be a barf bag handy.
It didn’t take long to reach my limit on Zero Limit.

much less than hoped..

Definitely struggled to finish this one. The story was extremely slow and mostly flat. The dialog was one dimensional and predictable. I kept thinking that the story would go some where but it just rambled with uninteresting facts. Even the ending was not that interesting and not with the hours spent to get there.
The narration was equally flat and left a lot to be desired. I do not recommend this book...not at all.

Not worth the time, sorry.

The story was clunkily written with quite a few logic holes and overused cliches.

The narration wasn't bad, but wasn't great. A couple of mispronounced phrases and odd stresses and pauses, but far from the worst I've heard.

Not impressed

From the overview, I was expecting a cross between Armageddon and the Martian... was nowhere close.

Narration was hard to listen to, and science was hollow.

Disappointing

Much like the character of the president in the book, I stayed the course not because I enjoyed the experience, but rather because I believe in finishing what I've started. The characters are flat and, save for one scene with the aforementioned president, show no development and feature stereotypical tropes as personalities. The most I can say is that much of the science was on point when nothing else was.
