About this listen

Cities were crushed by the falling spacecraft, but one ship didn't crash. It remained intact and disgorged hordes of alien soldiers determined to fight to the death. The abandoned vessels also contained a wealth of advanced technology.

Led by David Levinson, the greatest minds of our world developed deadly new hybrid weapons. Bases were built on the moon, Mars, and beyond. A new generation of defenders had to be trained, for the invaders would return.

In the headlong rush to prepare, however, not everyone would survive....

Loved it!

As close to a real sequel to the original film as could be hoped for. Have tons of characterization and weight to events in both films

Required listening before seeing Resurgence.

I'm really glad I took the time to listen to this book before watching Resurgence. It gives you an introduction to the younger characters and well as a refresher on the characters we already knew and loved. The characters are likable and the stories flow at an even pace. I think if more people would have read this prior, they would have liked the movie a lot more than they did.

"Independence Day: Crucible" Review

Terrific "listen"! Provided vital back story and filled in gaps to the butchered silver screen sequel to the original movie in an action-packed story! Terry Cleveland - Author of "Perfect Survival" at perfectsurvivaldotcom.

Fills In the 20 Year Gap Between Films

Fills in the 20 Year Gap

This book is the backstory for Indpendence Day Resurgence. While it gives the background story of the major characters, I found it somewhat boring. It took a while to pick up and by the time it got interesting, it was over. The characterizations were rather general and I really didn't feel like I had an insight. Kind of a shame since the author's novel Firestorm, prequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was superb. I will probably have to read this again later. The narrator of the audio book version was so monotonous, I chose to read it rather than be put to sleep.

Wildly entertaining

This book is a must listen to any and all Independence day fans. It successfully and wonderfully bridges the gap between the first movie and second and leaves you with just the right amount of questions to make you excited for the sequel. Well done by all

YA Romance

If I was to give the book a letter grade, it would be a B. It's above average, but not great. I got caught up in the love life of the main characters and grew to like them, even though they were cliché. Matter of fact several of the characters had the same personality. I was disappointed that almost nothing happened with the aliens. This is a prequel, so I knew they could not invade. They had some survivors in Africa, but they were all killed off with machetes. Young people are going to go to the movie, so it fits that the book would be YA.

A Great Read for the Independence Day Fan

Having already seen both movies and thoroughly enjoying them both, I decided to listen to this book. It ties the 2 movies together very nicely and makes me want to go back and watch both movies again. While not a wonderful piece of literature, no science fiction is, it is very entertaining. I could not wait to get back in my car to listen to more of this book and see where the characters were gong next. I don't know what the one reviewer who said this was a chick flick was thinking. (He or she clearly doesn't like science fiction!) Take this book for what it is, pure fun and enjoyment, but if you haven't seen either movie, don't bother.
