Deliberate Aging is a forum for older adults where I’ll discuss healthy aging and deliberate lifestyle choices that we can make to remain vibrant and active through mid-life and beyond. Let’s face it, we all make intentional choices every single day, and when done repeatedly over time, these choices can have a dramatic impact on our bodies and minds.
Choices such as what to eat – so for breakfast do I choose to have steel cut oatmeal and berries, or bacon and eggs.
For my mid-afternoon snack, do I reach for a candy bar or an apple
Another choice we make is when to eat?
Do I have my breakfast right after I get out of bed every single day, or do I wait a couple hours
When do I have my biggest meal of the day , do I have that at dinner time or at lunch time
Another important choice that we make every day is how to spend our free time
Do I choose to spend ½ hour doing some gentle yoga or do I just sit in front of the television
Do I spend my free time with family and friends, or completely by myself endlessly scrolling the internet
How do I manage stress?
At the end of a stressful day do I de-stress with couple glasses of wine to relieve my stress or maybe I choose to go for a walk or maybe meditate
