• EP 004: How We Choose Our Content and Blog Topics
    Jan 27 2025

    Hello All!!!

Creating blog topics can be a lot like looking at the blank page. The cursor is blinking away, and your brain is frozen in place.

It is difficult to reach into the ether and pull a few topics out of the endless possibilities of what you could talk about, so this episode is all about how to start thinking about your blog and content topics — using the “Pain Points and Praise method,” using your local SEO, and how to understand what your audience knows at one time.

EP 004 is all about how to claim your own content schedule and make it easier for you to run your business and close your clients.

  • EP 003: Virality is BAD! Unless it Isn't: Navigating the Wild, Wild, Web
    Jan 20 2025

A few years ago, Dakota went viral with a reel on @dakotaherseyphotography, and it opened her and I up to a whole new experience of the internet.

Virality is kind of a secret desire for everyone that makes content on the internet, but it can come with a lot of unexpected baggage if it does come. We talk about what it was like to get picked up by the internet, how to keep your balance when it comes, and how to strike a balance between making content and avoiding the temptation of “rage baiting.”

Come hear about how virality is bad, and how sometimes it isn't on the third episode of More Than Creative, the Podcast!

  • EP 002: What Are We Doing?! And How We Tell People.
    Jan 13 2025

As multi-passionate business owners and entrepreneurs, we are able to do and offer a lot! Sometimes telling potential clients what we are able to do can be overwhelming for them, and us. People get confused and turned away when there are too many options, too much confusion, and not enough focus when it comes to services and offerings.

Weston and I have done a lot with More Than Creative over the past year, and we struggled with how to communicate with clients and answer the ever-present question, “So what do you do?”

We talk about how we reviewed our last year, the things that worked, the things that didn’t, how we paired down and packaged our service offerings, and ultimately, settled on clear language that makes us feel right at home.

It can be a lot digging into it all by yourself. Hopefully, this will help with that some, and if you don’t feel like doing it all on your own, you know where to find us!

  • EP 001: We're Back, and We Have Value!
    Jan 6 2025

The Dynamic Duo is back in action, and we are punching and kicking our way into the new year!

We’re kicking off More Than Creative, The Podcast: Season 2 with a conversation about values. We’ve been sitting down together as a team discussing where MTC is headed as a business and what we want it to look like as it grows, and we came up with a lot of things that we always want to hold true in our business.

In our signature, sibling-ramble style, we talk about our past year, everything we learned at Spark '24, and most importantly, our core values!

Come on in and listen intently, OR put it on in the background as you think about your own values; everyone is valid here!

  • EP 014: Dubsado Workflows
    May 20 2024

    Hey everyone!

Weston and I have been working on something together in Dakota Hersey Photography that has been working so well that we absolutely have to share; that something special is workflows!

Now that we have them up and running, they have taken so much pressure off me, allowing me to shift my focus to larger things. I don’t worry about emails or invoices being sent on time, clients falling through the cracks, or me forgetting to do things. The workflows work for me, and they can work for you.

Weston and I have learned a lot in starting workflows for ourselves, and we want to share all our thoughts with you!

  • EP 013: How To Market Multiple Service Offerings On One Website
    Apr 22 2024

It’s difficult to be a multi-passionate business owner. How do you fit two business ideas that don’t fit together on one website, in a single business strategy? How do you relate a cleaning service to a photography business without being confusing to potential clients?

I struggled when starting More Than Creative, wondering if I should change my photography brand to be more in line with the idea of More Than Creative. I was unsure about how I would combine both of my passions: photography and helping other small business with client communication, copy writing, and strategy. Eventually, I decided to split them and let them them grow as separate things.

That was the option that worked for me, BUT it’s not the only option available. Weston and I talk about a few ways to present clear, diverse service offerings to your clients without being confusing and the things to think about as you and your business grow!

I’m shaking off the nerves, I’m letting myself ramble, and I’m bringing you guys along on this journey, back steps and all.

Welcome back. I’m excited to get started.

  • EP 011: Short-Form Video—Think Smarter, Not Harder
    Sep 4 2023

TikTok has become king! Long videos of you rambling and single frames of still photos no longer get the engagement online that you want. There is a mass movement to short-form video – taking trending sounds and formats and making them relate to your industry, but that can be a lot of work, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t like how their voice sounds or isn’t comfortable in front of a camera.

These are common roadblocks people have when it comes to the content game. I had these when I first started on YouTube, but through practice, I’ve overcome those roadblocks… just to run into more.

In this episode, I discuss the roadblocks I’ve faced when creating short-form videos, how I’ve overcome them, and what I’m doing to overcome the ones I’m currently facing (like the 22,000 videos I have on my phone, unedited.)

Tune into Episode 011 for all things short-form video!
