This episode is for families whose newborn requires a stay in the NICU. Whether anticipated or unexpected, a NICU stay is challenging. If this is your first baby, you're becoming a parent but are reliant on others to care for your newborn. If you have other children, you're balancing their needs and those of your infant. There can be feelings of anxiety, frustration, anger and loss -- not to mention significant logistical challenges. Our guests are three perinatal providers who have experience working in the NICU or have been NICU parents themselves. They offer wisdom and advice on coping with a NICU stay.

In this episode, host Anne Nicholson Weber outlines six of the most important protocols and policies that can vary widely from one birth setting to another. It's important to learn about these early in your pregnancy, so you can decide what options matter to you and make sure you choose a birth setting that will support your preferences.
