The Abby Renshaw Adventures

For 16-year old Abigail Renshaw, the terrifying nightmares are not the worst part. When apparitions start leaking out of the nightmares into her waking life - well, that's a problem. But Abby's dealt with hallucinations before, and she's nothing if not resilient. Following clues from the nightmares, she convinces her mother to let her visit Harmony Springs, the small town in Florida where Abby was born, and where her grandmother still lives. There, Abby finds unexpected help from new friends: a compulsive teenage blogger named Molly Quick, and Molly's older brother Ray-Ray.

Winter break in England is not turning out as relaxing as I’d hoped. I’m a 17-year-old kid, walking down a deserted road in the middle of the night in a foreign country. All alone, except for a friend who is haunted, possessed, and prone to panic attacks. I really ought to have kept up better with my magical training.

After graduating high school Abby returns to Harmony Springs, her spiritual home. She plans to reconnect with friends, take one college class over the summer — and of course, resume her magical studies. But life in central Florida is not as peaceful as she hoped. Nightmares and visions torment her: a weird castle, an armored ghost, a giant white frog devouring people.

I’ve dealt with difficult ghosts before, but this guy! Trashed my room, and he wasn’t even the one I summoned. That was a woman ghost haunting my friend Molly. We were just trying to help this poor lady spirit move on. Instead, I end up driving Molly out to Cedar Key on Florida’s Nature Coast, near where the lady and her angry companion lived until a hurricane destroyed the place in 1896. We find some clues along the way, but in the end there’s no escaping it: We have to rent kayaks and paddle out to Prosper Key.
